Holding a drawing of a table lamp

Hello steemian friends. Welcome once again to my blog. Today, I’d like to share with us what I cooked for a good number of minutes—it’s a drawing actually. Would like to thank @m-fdo for organising a beautiful contest as this.
First, I have a brief list of what I needed for my drawing. Just three items, to be precise.

Tools needed:

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • A ruler
These are the only tools that were needed throughout my drawing.

I wouldn’t like to start off with a bad key, but trust me when I say, I need grace in the area of arts. As I was going through one of my social media handles this morning, I saw a picture that captured beautiful memories. These pictures were not painted or captured with a digital camera, they were all drawings by my friend’s little brother, Emmanuel.

I so loved it. I loved it that he was able to tell clear stories with his drawings that were near perfect. I can remember so well the last he was asked what he’d like to become and he said a teacher, not an artist. Then clicked in my memory, and I said to myself that indeed anyone could become what they wanted to become only with handwork and consistency.

Later in the day, I logged on to my steemit account only to see this challenging contest to draw a table lamp. Whether I liked it or not, I had to be a part of this. I might be terrible at drawing, but I know I’d become better with time. What I saw this morning wasn’t just a challenge, but a motivation.

Actual picture

The drawing

Quickly, I reached a plain sheet and placed it on my table. I grabbed my table lamp and before a twinkle of an eye, my pencil was already at work. I made light and slant sketches first from the bottom as seen here.

After that, I tried sketching the upper and most important part of it---the part that gives light. This was a difficult one, but I needed to secure a space for all the parts before moving to the other parts of it.

The knotting

After sketching the biggest part of it which is the part that sits on the table, I headed for the stand with knots on it.

After I was sure of including all the parts, I began to join the sketches and making them bold. From here, I moved on to shading. I shaded the parts I felt needed some thickness to add some beauty to it.

Before I knew it, it was almost over. I erased for so many times that I lost count though, but my happiness is that I didn’t stop halfway. I was unable to tell if I had it correctly because the original copy of the table lamp is much different from what was on my paper.

The final stage

I was a bit discouraged to post it, but this is one journey I’m not ashamed of. Whether I got it right or not, I needed to be proud of my time and energy in this, and I think others would be glad I tried something.

Would like to invite @ukpono, @anthony002 and @justiceanietie to take part in this contest.

Thanks for reading through.

Dear friend your drawing is nice. Is not easy to draw except you're an artist. Best wishes friend as I will also challenge myself on this.

Thanks ma'am.
Looking forward to see yours.

Thank you so much.

You have done a very nice drawing of your table lamp for this competition. You have drawn it very creatively, I think it is very important for all of us to develop the habit of drawing something. Also you did a very nice step by step presentation of the steps you drew which was very nice. And you explained very well how to draw it very easily. Anyway, I really enjoyed reading your post and I wish you the best.

Thank you so much.
