Scarlet Nexus is an action RPG set in a dystopian future where heroes with psychic powers will have to defend humanity from brain-eating aliens.
Scarlet Nexus is divided into 2 parts; therefore, there will be 2 protagonists and you can choose the one you prefer at the beginning of the game. The first is Yuito Sumeragi, son of the city governor, who decides to join as a volunteer due to a childhood incident that left him scarred. There is also Kasane Randall, a strong-willed young woman who has shown talent for battle and was recruited for her abilities. Both parts begin during the process of integration to the Force of Suppression of Others, organism in charge of exterminating the creatures that fall from the sky and devour human brains. At the end of the test, their instructor gives them the day off before they formally join the team. Yuito and Kasane meet along the way and meet again when the Others have invaded the city. Without thinking, they both set out to destroy the creatures and save the day before it's too late.
This is the beginning of a story that gets complicated and puts a lot of emphasis on developing its characters, since despite the fact that the Others are the central theme, the narrative pays attention to the interests of the protagonists and their relationship with the other members of the group. The real game takes its time to let you know every detail of your companions, so that you know what their true intentions are and create a bond with them. All this fits with the side of the story that you are not seeing, and leaves gaps that you will fill in the second round, and something interesting is that they can be spun with the crossroads, without needing to go back to the past.
Either way, in both stories you will find conspiracy theories, enemies that become allies and political and social issues, among many twists of the screw that will keep you attentive to the screen. Of course, I must warn you that you will see all this through cinematics and many vignettes. Most of the time you will be looking at still images with transitions and lots of text like a manga or comic, with voice acting that can tire you because of their constancy.
