Hi! My name is Liudmila. I am a writer and I live in Estonia. First of all, I'd like to thank @steem.ofanimals for organising such a great contest. I want to introduce Dante, my charming old adopted cat.
When we took this guy from the shelter right after moving in our apartment in Tallinn, he was in quite a bad state of health. But his grace, the way he looked at me with his bright green eyes, his sweet broken ears won my heart at first sight. I was deliberately opting for an older cat, because everyone else would like a young kitty. The first months with us, he was timid and emaciated because of a severe gut infection. When he was sleeping, he looked like a dead polar fox. It took us a lot of effort to make him put on some weight and get healthier, and it paid off. Dante is definitely a kind soul who loves his human friends.
When we are not at home, we leave him with a friend of mine or hire a cat nanny who can provide good care to our beautiful boy.
Dante has a funny habit to climb over my husband's shoulders when my husband seats at his desk. The cat then looks like John Silver's parrot. He does not like being hugged and seldom comes for a head rub. However, at night, he sometimes sits on top of us and purrs, and his purrs are really sweet and relaxing. He loves eating cottage cheese and stewed chicken (both me and my husband are vegetarian, however, we cook poultry for Dante). It is sad that he refuses to be walked on a leash and doesn't play outside, but it seems too late to train him. I'm happy that he is with us, and grateful for his being a good companion for our baby daughter. This poor cat was diagnosed cancer last year and has to be taken to the vet regularly, but I hope he will stay with us as long as possible.
