Until now, I still find it amazing that the cat really followed us all the way back to the community, which is about 1.5km away. Although after entering the community gate, it kept looking around and even found a patch of grass to lie down and not move, but it really came back with us. My boyfriend wondered if it was fooling us by bringing it back to the community, so that more people might feed it. Regardless, in the end, I still brought the cat home.
I later shared this matter with a friend of mine who keeps cats, and she was also surprised, saying that the cat might be too tired to move. I think she has a point.
The first thing I did when I got home was to weigh the cat, which was about 2.5kg. I can say I know nothing about cats. My boyfriend said that since it's so small, it might be just a few months old and might have wandered off, and we lured it home.
We immediately ordered cat litter, a litter box, a cat bed, and a scratching post. We found that the cat was not very dirty, just some dust, which should be from when it was wandering around. Its claws also looked trimmed, and it didn't seem to have been abandoned. My boyfriend said its eyes were clear yet naive, obviously it hadn't experienced the hardships of society yet, and must have been wandering for only a few days.
The most amazing thing is that we thought it would be afraid of our dog, would make a warning growl, would get its fur standing on end, and would be ready to attack at any moment, just like the stray cat we encountered before. However, that was not the case. It didn't think the big dog was that impressive at all. It even calmly walked around, inspecting our home. Instead, our dog was nervous, like a fool who had never seen the world.
Considering it might have wandered off, not been abandoned, my boyfriend and I started posting articles and videos on social media to help find its owner, with the location set near our home. For several days, there was no news from its owner, and we even asked people in the surrounding communities if anyone was looking for a cat, but there were no clues. The cat is so gentle and well-behaved that we can't believe someone would abandon it. How gentle is it? No matter how we stroke it, play with its limbs, or hold it, it never extends its claws, and its nails are always neatly retracted, never scratching us. It seems like a doll, and the most it struggles is to escape our grasp when we're not paying attention.
My cat-raising friend was very envious after hearing about it, because most of the time her cat doesn't allow her to touch it, even though she is the owner, and her cat scratches her without any mercy, not giving her any face. My boyfriend asked me if we couldn't find its owner, should we adopt it? Or find a new owner for it? I said I didn't know, and I was caught in a dilemma again.
When I was combing the cat at night, I found that the cat's belly was a bit round and hard. I hurriedly called my boyfriend over to take a look. He felt it twice and said, "Could it be pregnant?" Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell everyone, it's a little female cat. A little female cat that has been wandering outside for a few days should have a high chance of encountering a male cat and getting pregnant, right? I started worrying again. Adopting one is already killing me with indecision, what should I do if she has another litter?
