Introduction

As a child growing up it is most likely that we have been told stories about animals in the animal kingdom, this stories usually end with a moral lesson for the listener. The stories are also in books which is available in many bookshop and schools. Now what is a fable?

A fable a short tale to teach a moral lesson, often with animals or inanimate objects as characters. Source

What is your favorite fable, give a reason?

My favourite fable is the tale of how the tortoise got his cracked shell.

In the tale, there was famine in the land and the King of the Sky invited all the birds to the sky for grand feast. Tortoise being a smart and funny animal asked the birds to lend him a feather from their wings so he could join them. They obliged and lenses him a feather each. Before leaving for the banquet tortoise brought up an idea that they needed a name and he chose his name to be called **Everyone**. They agreed and started the flight to the sky. When they reached the King welcomed them with all kinds of food and drinks. When the servant brought this food and drinks tortoise asked who the meal was for and the servant said it was for everyone.
Tortoise then said that means it was his own meal. This kept going on till tortoise finished all the food served at the feast. This got the other birds so angry that when it was time to leave the sky back to earth they all collected back their feathers from tortoise. This meant that he could not fly back. Tortoise then begged one of the birds to help tell his wife to gather all the soft things she could find and keep outside so he could fall on it. But the bird gave an opposite message that the wife should gather all the hard and broken things outside. When tortoise saw that the wife had done it, he jumped down and fell on the hard things which scattered and broke his shell. The wife had to help him gum it back, this is the reason tortoise back is as it is till this day. I love this fable because it has a lot of suspense and teaches a lot of lessons.
Has the fable influenced your life?

It has influenced my life very much. I learnt that I should not try to con anyone. That those who helps us to go up should never be stepped on because we will need them when coming down.

Give us an idea of the life lessons contained in your favorite fables

One life lesson there is that you should do unto others what you want to be done to you.
You should also not deceive people because by doing that you turn their Goodwill and pay them with evil.
