Introduction:

Hey Steemit peeps, How are you all doing?

Here comes a very interesting contest for us titled "Sea or Land, What do you prefer?"

The supposed fun-filled contest which is organised by @oneldoors requires participants to write about their favorite protein, either sea- or land-based foods.
As a professional foodie, I showcase.

About my favorite protein- Sea protein

Proteins in general are a very good supplement for people, no doubt, but choosing the right one for you is what matters.

I chose to write about "sea-based proteins" because they are better for me than land-based proteins for so many reasons.
As a foodie, I despise not eating land-based proteins; however, sea-based proteins continue to be my favorites.

My favorite types of seafood and why I like them

FishCrab

Fish soup and crab pepper soup

My favorite type of sea-based protein is fish and crab. These are my reasons for choosing sea proteins as my favorites.

  • Protei abundance:
Unlike most land-based meats, which are partly proteinous, sea-based meats are very high in protein. Also, sea proteins such as fishes are quite low in saturated fat.

  • Can be consumed by everyone.:
Sea foods are not just easy to cook with less time; they're also digestible for every type of person. Fish is enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.

  • A good source of a very important nutrient:
Seafood contains many of the vital nutrients needed by the body. Vitamins A and B, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, are examples of the essential nutrients provided by sea-based protein. These nutrients help maintain the body by keeping it healthy at all times.

How often I do consume it in my home?

Rice with fresh fish

Living on an island (an area surrounded by water) is a very big opportunity for me. As obvious as it sounds, seafood isn't hard to find here, and as expected, it's very affordable, but not with crabs.
I consume seafood at least three times a week. And my type of consumption varies; it's either fish or crab prepared with stew, or I cook it with a native food called garri.

For Crabs:

On numerous occasions, I enjoy eating crab. Crabs offer some of the same benefits as fish. They are very scarce in my area and, as such, very expensive to afford as well.

For fish:

I love eating it when cooked with stew for rice. I also love eating it when cooked for garri, depending on what I desire for the day.

Price of fish and crabs in my area

Seafoods in general are not expensive in my area . In a form below is the cost of different fish in my area:

Fish typeQuantityPrice in NairaPrice in Steem
Mugil cephalus1kg₦200013.7 Steem
Tilapia zillii1kg₦1,80012.4 Steem
Catfish1kg₦2,50017.2 Steem
Titus fish1kg₦1,50010.3 Steem

While for crabs, a kilo goes as much as ₦3500 (Local currency) equivalent to about 24.1 Steem.

Photos of a meal of the week including my chosen protein

As earlier stated, I do consume seafood at least every week and this week isn't left out either.

Monday meal

So far this week, I've had fish with one of my best food I love eating fish with, called Eba. Eba is actually the garri I earlier talked about. Eba is made by turning cassava flour (garri) with hot water. It's loved by most Africans and I'm one of them.

Tuesday meal

I made the meal on Monday of this week. I couldn't finish it because it was much, I had to enjoy it the following day and it tasted even yummier.
It was actually tilapia type of fish I had this week.

Conclusion

Having sea based proteins for 4 times a day isn't too much I guess. Though it's in abundance here in my place yet I do not abuse it for the fear of the risk that might involve.

Hoping to read and learn of other people's favorite protein as well.

I invite @prolee, @kelvin12 and @kingter8 to participate.
