Meugang tradition in the hometown**

Meugang is one of the traditions that is very strong in the culture of the Acehnese people, especially before the holy month of Ramadan. Every year, the Acehnese people celebrate meugang by cooking and enjoying meat with their families as a form of gratitude and togetherness. This year I also felt the happiness of this tradition in my beloved hometown.

Since morning, the market has been very crowded with people flocking to buy meat. Meat traders offer their wares at varying prices, and I bought two kilograms of beef for 300,000 IDR. Although the price is quite high, this has become part of the customs and habits of the Acehnese people in welcoming big days such as meugang.

Arriving home, the family was waiting to cook the typical meugang dish. Usually meat is cooked in various ways, such as Acehnese fried meat, meat curry or meat soup. This time my family and I decided to cook Acehnese fried meat rich in spices, accompanied by warm rice and a spicy sambal that is very appetizing

While cooking, we shared stories and joked around. The kitchen was so lively, with the aroma of meat starting to cook and spices spreading throughout the house. Moments like this always bring a sense of nostalgia, reminding me of my childhood when I saw my mother and grandmother cooking with love in the kitchen.

After all the dishes were ready, we gathered together in the dining room. There was nothing happier than enjoying food with family on Meugang day. Every atmosphere felt so delicious, not only because of the taste of the food but also because of the togetherness that was established between us.

For the Acehnese, meugang is not just about eating meat, but also has a deep meaning about giving and strengthening ties of friendship. Many families sincerely share meat with neighbors or the less fortunate, so that everyone can enjoy the same food in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan.

Towards the evening, after my stomach was full and my heart was happy, I sat down with my family while enjoying a cup of warm tea. We talked about the preparations for Ramadan and how we can live this blessed month better.

The meugang tradition is always a special moment filled with warmth, togetherness and happiness. It is not just about eating meat, but about preserving cultural heritage, strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and welcoming the blessed month of Ramadan with a grateful heart. Hopefully this tradition will continue to be preserved and passed down to the next generation.
