The AfCFTA Conference on Women and Youth in Trade, convened under the patronage of H.E. Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Champion of Women and Youth in Trade under the AfCFTA, is organized in conjunction with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania under the theme “Women and Youth: The Engine of AfCFTA Trade in Africa”. The Conference will take place from 12 to 14 September 2022, in Dar-Es-Salam, United Republic of Tanzania at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre.
The Conference will provide a platform to interrogate how the findings of the consultations and surveys can be transformed into a Protocol on Women and Youth in Trade that facilitates the engagement and participation of women and youth in trade.
The Conference will host Heads of State and Governments; Ministers responsible for Trade and Gender; Development Partners; Women and Youth entrepreneurs and Businesses; policy makers – and is envisaged to be a landmark event that provides the opportunity to take stock of progress in implementing policies and programmes that enhance the capacity of women and youth to trade.
The thematic focus will be on six (6) key pillars that constitute a part of the sectors in which women and youth are engaged. These include the following:
● Leadership in Trade
● Financial Inclusion
● Creative Industry
● Digital Solutions to Trade
● Informal Cross Border Trade
● Industrialization and creation of linkages
The three (3) days will be organized around a series of multiple configurations – including panel discussions, networking events and an exhibition of products and services by women and youth. The Conference will provide a platform to reflect on effective policy solutions; to promote products produced and services provided by women and youth; to recognize achievements made; and expand networks.
