Maria was frustrated by a trip that turned out to be a fiasco. She had followed Moncho in the hope that his plan to give away money would work, but the trip turned into a nightmare. While Moncho joined a noisy protest, Maria, tired and angry, decided to stay at the hotel and found an unexpected opportunity at a nearby casino. There, with her gambling skills and a large amount of hidden money, she immersed herself in the world of gambling, hoping to turn her bad luck into a fortune. However, a mysterious man and an unexpected twist of fate will change her life forever._ @oneray
Maria's soliloquise sounded more like a heart cry only her could hear as she was confined in the four walls of the hotel room.
A sip of carbonated drink and a high portion of alcohol will do; let me go down to the wine bar and drink to stupor so I can forget the stress put through by that crazy unpredictable Moncho. If I had joined Labiya to party at the "dine and wine club", I wouldn't have gone into much depression this evening; there would have been a chance to sneak into the dollar room, or maybe strangle or poison the guard as I pretend to be a stripper. Many thoughts came into Maria's mind, it seems like the end of the road for her.
Maria has become more desperate than ever; creditors are calling, and there are high chances of leaving her own house—I mean, the one she built with her own money because she placed it on the loan while she borrowed a large amount of money and promised to payback. The only collateral she left in the hands of these creditors was her house, and that was way too risky, but there was no other option.
She walked lifelessly down the staircase to the wine bar; she ordered a plate of meat as she drank the non-alcoholic wine. She became more and more sadden when the thought of losing everything came to her mind. Moncho promised her that the meeting with Goldez Miller, the manager of the "half field" depot, was going to yield a positive result; they were to be given compensation as they captured some hidden agency tapping out oil from the company depot through a secret pipeline.
Maria was to present her case before him and seek help, but the securities denied them access, claiming Goldez Miller was not around. The lies were meaningless because everyone knew Goldez Miller would never leave without his convoy. Muncho, the head of the team, began a protest that restricted people from accessing other sections of the office without special gates and fences. If Goldez Miller had not publicly announced it, it wouldn't have bothered them, but he did. Maria, with so much depression, left them in the course of the protest to think about her life as there was no green light.
With so much annoyance, she told the wine waiter to give her what would hibernate her; she meant an alcoholic this time; she wanted to be drunk and forget her sorrow. Nobody knew her here, so she wasn't afraid. As she turned around and saw something that attracted her—a group of businessmen of high reputation in a corner of the hall gambling—can this help me? She remembered that day when she became rich a minute and lost all because of greed.
That last game that changed her life and ruined it is what has placed her in this state. Maria made so much fortune through gambling, but something happened one day. She had always won, but this time she would have walked away with the million she had, but she made another analysis that winning would make her richer than even her country's president, so she placed a stake of all her money, including the one in the bank, and it almost made her commit suicide when she lost.
Can this help me? She asked herself. I promised never to play this again, or I would be like a dog going back to her vomit. She walked closer to the gambler spot, she stood by, she saw a game strategy that would give a particular businessman a multimillion, she kept quiet as she was afraid, and the man lost an estate in stake. She came closer and whispered silently to the man, I can bring back your estate if you switch the play and sponsor me to play. The man looked at her in amazement. Perplexed by such confidence, he whispered back, If you can do this, I will give you whatever you want, but if you can't, I am sorry. I will give your heart to the wolves.
At this time Maria wasn't that confident about the next play, but she thought, Even if I lose, let me be given to the wolves rather than live and watch my life become more reckless. She didn't take a sip of the alcohol anymore; she left them on the counter. The businessmen were already fed up with the long conversation that halted the play. She then sealed her statement by saying I would play. The man switched the play and sponsored the stake, but was afraid of what Maria would stake.
Maria, a good gambler whose life was ruined by it, decided not to stake high, and this made the other gamblers stake the estate they got thinking she was going to lose; a lower stake to them signifies uncertainty. The game seemed to go in their favour; Maria fell face to the floor; she did the best she could in the analysis; the next regret was about to be seen and felt; the dire minute arrived; the contest ended and there was no shout of victory; she felt a tap on her back; a man whispered and said, I am Goldez miller; we have won; make your wishes🤣.
