Greetings of the day everyone!

I hope you are all doing great and having a nice week!

On this side of the world, we are still fasting for the month of Ramadan and tomorrow will be the last day of the Holy Month!

Meaning, we will celebrate Eid on Thursday and it is a National Public Holiday here in Mauritius!

Apart from buying gifts, new dresses and preparing yummy dishes for Eid, we have a cultural thing that I want to share with you...

Henna Application...

In my country, and specially in my family, when Eid is near you will find the women and girls applying henna on hands and feet too!

If you want to know more on henna, kindly check the Wikipedia page by clicking here!

Henna is basically like a tattoo...but a tattoo that fades with time! It is a reddish dye prepared from the dried and powdered leaves of the henna tree!

My mom, wife and daughter did it today!

My wife got the contact with a young girl offering this service at home!

She came at our place at around 7pm and applied different designs on my mom's and wife's hands!

Cultural and also it is something that make the women & girls feel more beautiful!

We do have some who just don't like it, but most people do it.

Nowadays we even have boys & men doing different designs on their hands or arms!

Applying Henna is an art…and the artist did an amazing job indeed!

My daughter did her design with another girl...

The girl who came at my place made designs on my wife and mom's hand, while my daughter went to a cousin to do hers!

These are the hands of Rheem!

Normally tomorrow morning these will turn very dark!
