SEC - S12W5: My style with recycled material

in hive-141434 •  last year

Hey Steemian friends!

Time to do some creative stuff! I saw this rubber band car from Insta which can go on a vertical wall! 😵 Quite impressive creation. I thought I gotta try this out quite sometime but haven't had a chance or time. So, there's no better time than now, and I'm going to show you how to do it using recycled materials.

Proud owner of a Rubber band car! 🚗

I will use below recycled items to get it done,

  • Ice cream sticks,
  • Straw,
  • Lids of used bottles,
  • Rubber bands,
  • Sticks,
  • 02 used batteries.

Materials I used

Let's get started!

01. Building the Base

To begin, I'll use ice cream sticks as the base. I've Glued them together to create a sturdy foundation for the car. Then I'm going to use pieces of straw as the wheel supporters. I will glue the straws onto the base. These will serve as the supports for the wheels.

02. Adding the Axles

Next step is to Insert the sticks into the straws. The shorter stick should be at the front, and the longer one at the back. Make sure the longer stick can move freely as it will be responsible for operating the wheels.

03. Creating the Wheels

For the wheels, I took four lids from empty bottles and punch a hole in the middle of each. These will the wheels of the car.

04. Attaching the Wheels

Now, I'm going to attach the four lids to the sticks as wheels. To secure them in place, I've put a bit of glue inside each lid.

05. Preparing for the Rubber Band

In the center of both the front and back, I've glued two more sticks to hold the rubber band in place.

06. Adding Weight

To ensure the car maintains contact with the ground, I used two batteries to the rear ends of the car. This added weight will help with traction.

07. Applying the Rubber Band

Finally, wrap the rubber band around the back axle and give it a good twist. This will store energy and make the rubber band car go!

08. Let It Roll! 😃

Really that's all! 🤣🤣 The video I watched it went like a rocket. I tried different methods but my hot glue is not powerful enough to hold the rubber band to give it a good twist.

However, I'm thrilled it worked somewhat 😂! I think kids will love this and if you have little ones around you can surprise them with this car. But make sure to use a good hot glue to stick everything together. That is where I made the mistake.

Thank you for this interesting contest @hive-141434 (Recreative Steem). Looking forward to taking on the next week’s challenge. I would like to invite @mariagood, @bossj23 & @oswaldocuarta to participate in this contest.

Thank you.

Peace to all 🙏
