THE ARTSY FARTSY DISTRICT OF LONDON

I was out and about in Shoreditch last weekend and figured I should make a video for the London community on here. Sadly the audio was garbage, thanks to Apple's audio jack to Thunderbolt converter issues. I had to narrate over the video and drop out some terrible footage too. Sad.

Nevertheless, here's the video above. Hope you enjoy it.

Featured in the video are;

  • Doors Eleven & Eleven and A Half.

  • Vintage Princelet Street

  • Princelet Street Banksy?

  • The Goat of Shoreditch.

  • Dogman and Rabbitgirl with coffee

  • Wooden Boat with Seven People

The alley cats.

I photographed some cats in this alley way a while ago. There was a black cat, my favourite cat of all time, and another cat that I believe to be the one I saw in this video.

The black cat was photographed in 2014 with my vintage Zenit-E film camera, with a Helios-44-2 lens. The film was Lomography Lady Grey - a true black and white film.

This cat was photographed with my iPhone 4 (now vintage too I guess) in 2015. I am almost sure it is the same cat I saw in the video. What do you think? Is it the same cat?

This is a very cool part of London. I believe the days are numbered, much like the Hackney Wick area, due to gentrification.

Thanks for your time,

Those audio problems made it feel like it had a really retro (60's?) documentary feel. Not sure about the cat, could be ... or not. I've not really explored Shoreditch, I've been a couple of times in the past few years, but haven't really wandered around and explored. Those cookie cutter buildings are all along parts of the river, too.

Hahaha. Nice. I know what you mean :)

I was around Bow a couple of months ago and I couldn't believe the changes in just 2 years of not being there.

The very mention of which makes me shudder.

Urrgh.

Lol

That is quite a shot of that black cat. The way it blends in with the background. So cool and mesmerizing

Thank you. There is an interesting story behind that photo that I've written about in the past. I think there's even a video somewhere. I'll dig it out one day and post it on here :)
