" Master Charlie works at an International Space Station. One day I decided to get in touch with someone from that station and called Charlie. I agreed with him when he could tell me something about that station and some interesting facts about it. "

Here's what Charlie told me.

The International Space Station, or abbreviated ISS, is a joint project to build an orbital space station with six space agencies from the US, Russia, Japan, Canada, Brazil and the European Union.

Interesting facts Charlie told me.

  1. The International Space Station is the most expensive facility ever built. The development, installation and labor costs of more than 10 years have cost around € 100 billion.

  2. ISS is a joint project of 16 states and six space agencies: the US (NASA), Russia (FKA), Japan (JAXA), Canada (CSA), Brazil (AEB) and the European Space Agency (ESA), that is, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

  3. The ISS consists primarily of 15 modules and four large solar panels. It weighs about 420,000 pounds, which is more than 320 cars.

  4. The International Space Station is about as long and wide as the terrain for American football.

  5. Since 2000, the ISS has been rotating crews who usually arrive in this lab by US or Russian space shuttle and remain on task for up to 6 months. By June 2013, they had completed 174 space walks that totaled 1,100 hours, or nearly 46 days.

  1. Like all of us on Earth, ISS crew members work Monday through Friday, resting on weekends and holidays. While on vacation, crew members can watch movies, listen to music, read books, play cards together, or chat with their families and friends on Earth.

  2. The station has more living space than a typical six-bedroom apartment, with two bathrooms, a gym, and an oval window that offers spectacular views of planet Earth.

  3. When viewed from Earth, the space station is the third brightest object in the sky, and can be easily seen with the naked eye if you know when to look.

  4. Fifty-two computer systems are controlled by the ISS, and all electronics are connected with nearly 13 km of wire.

  5. By June 2013, the ISS was a spaceport for 89 Russian aircraft, 37 Space Shuttle, three SpaceX Dragons, four Japanese and four European aircraft.

  1. 211 people from 15 countries have visited the space station so far.

  2. It took as many as 136 spacecraft to assemble all parts of the International Space Station made on Earth into space.

  3. When completed with their purpose on the ISS, some of the most modern Russian modules, such as Science, will be reused when constructing a new space station to support interplanetary missions.

  4. The construction of the ISS has not yet been completed, and when it is at its full capacity, the space station will have six fully functional laboratories and sufficient housing for a crew of seven.

  5. The original purpose of the International Space Station is to provide a laboratory, observatory and factory in the Universe. It is also planned to act as a springboard for possible future missions to the moon, Mars and asteroids in the future. Since 2010, other roles have been added to the ISS, such as commercial flights, diplomatic and educational purposes.

  1. The ISS orbits the Earth at a speed of 28,000 km per hour. According to NASA sources, "crew members experience 15 or 16 sunsets and sunsets each day."

  2. Not every individual who has visited the ISS has been sponsored by a state or space agency. Seven so-called "space tourists" self-funded their multimillion-dollar trips and got the opportunity to visit the International Space Station.

  3. Although the space station is often compared to a six-room apartment, the ISS does not have a traditional room. Instead, six booth-sized rooms serve as a sleeping space or as a private space for each crew member.

  4. The space station is orbiting the Earth at an altitude of 360 kilometers, although atmospheric resistance changes the actual altitude by several kilometers.

  5. The ISS is an incredible technological endeavor, but it is also a symbol of the end of the Cold War and international understanding. According to NASA, "More than 100,000 people and more than 500 companies and space agencies are working on the project. So far, a total of 68 states have been involved in research on the International Space Station."
