I bet you've met a TCK or even are one. I bond easily with TCKs! It's not a coi ...

... ncidence that half of my housemates come from another continent and our friends are pretty international, even though we are all German.
By definition, a TCK is someone who grew up in a different country than where his parents are from, thus mixing two (or more) cultures into it's unique own Third Culture. I myself grew up a German in Thailand and it has shaped me immensely. There are so many issues and topics that TCKs can relate to, even when they come from totally different places!
Ever thought of these?

✨ Home is where my suitcase is
✨ Hidden immigrant
✨ Weird is a compliment
✨ Don't even try to fit me into boxes
✨ I feel at home everywhere and nowhere
✨ It's soooo cold here (at 20°celsius)

The identity struggles of many children and young adults is something I am pretty passionate about. Asking these questions helped me a lot to settle in here in my "home" country, which is a lot harder for many people than you think. Now imagine how immigrants feel even after years ... 🤔

It's great to have friends from different cultures. I find it very sad when someone speaks badly about immigrants or refugees. I am also a immigrant and find it very bad when someone thinks that a country belongs only to them. The world belongs to no one and we are all only here for a short visit. Then why feel it with hate and not with love and positivity? I appreciate your attitude, Debby.
A very nice picture with a lot of happy faces, I'm sure you guys had a great dinner together.😊

Sorry that I only answer now, busy busy. I understand what you mean about acceptance, especially as an immigrant. I find it crazy that we humans always found people groups to look down at. In the old testament of the Bible you read that God told his people to care for the foreigners, widows and orphans. Still people groups today who need strangers to help cos they have no one. Let's see them 🙌🏻❤️
And we had a great dinner, I always enjoy time and meals with my peeps, especially since I am not home every evening because of work.

😅 after 10 years living in Thailand I feel like an immigrant here in Germany💯... especially the complaining of so many Germans on their country and government I can't understand, it's complaining on the highest level.
There we can see very, very clear, happiness doesn't depend on money it depends on what people choose. Ordinary people in Thailand have a hard life but they are happy because they choose to live happy, it's that easy.

i love the last line "have a hard life but they are happy because they choose to live happy" 😍 - for me, this is the real life... thats the reason I am fond of watching docus of Bhutan 😍 another place I wanna visit aside Thailand 😊

💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I agree with you a lot! Although I think it bothers you more than me to live here 😄 many young German people already have a different attitude, you are truly special for your age. I think so too that happiness depends a lot on choice. Not only, but definitely more than money 😜

Well that's interesting and also very cool that you were able to live in a different place than where you were born. Nice to see you all your mates hanging around. I definitely learned something new with this. TCK cool. Would be cool to have all their stories told here on appics.

Absolutely💯 bring them all to Appics Debby 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Jup, Hope it gets easier to participate soon!

Thanks Jason. Glad you learned something new here, I'd love to post some more about TCKs. I'll be on a weekend hangout with only Missionary kids soon, they are typical TCKs. 😄 I've already told some of Appics. 😉

not sure if im considered as one of TCK - i followed my parents to UAE when I was 17 and now im living here half of my life 😊 originally from Philippines... both countries have different tradition and culture and I can totally relate about own third culture... 😊 btw, thanks for the info - first time i encountered the TCK 😁

I think you also mixed a third culture by now 😉 even though you were almost grown up when you traveled, the definition of TCK is broad and you can probably relate to many things that a Third Culture Kid experienced.

It is wonderful when so many people from so many cultures come together. I love it and can't understand people who think differently.

I agree with you. I understand how it's hard for people to understand other cultures when not everybody grew up in such open-minded surroundings. Nowadays the cultures clash more than ever, and people experience such richness!

Yes Wealth is the right word for when so many cultures meet.
