Some things that I have done today is that I added some leaves to the box that I am growing potatoes in. (instead of growing the potatoes in dirt, I am growing the potatoes in an old pile of leaves.) Over time the leaves 'shrink down' so its nice to save some old leaves that you raked up in a bag. My dad is growing some onions, and the squirls are digging up some of the onions and just laying them on the ground, so today I replanted some onions. Also today I checked to see if any shitake mushrooms were growing on the mushroom log...not yet!

When you make the soap, do you buy lye or do you make your own?

Oh you’re growing shitake mushrooms? Is it hard to grow ? Yes I make my soap from scratch with lye and oils 😜

I enjoy gardening, and about a year and a half ago I was looking through a gardening catalogue. I learned that the gardening company sold shitake mushroom logs, so I bought one. (If I would have known then, what I know now I do not think that I would have bought a branch of a tree) But at the time I did not know how they made a dead piece of wood produce mushrooms. (Mushrooms are not plants, but baiscly pieces of wood are soaked with mushroom seeds and inserted into the log, then the mushroom spreads its roots througout the log...and mushrooms are born :)
