Old photos with old memories of a Cultural Center in Amarin Plaza.

These old photos were taken two years ago during the last week of the exhibition at the Cultural Center. Who would have thought that the owners of the Amarin Plaza would established a cultural center on the third floor of its famous shopping mall in the middle of Bangkok. At first people or vendors inside the shopping center were quite surprised by all the big and heavy brass, stones, wooden statues.

Then one day, the owner of the mall decided to end the renting contract with the Cultural Center. So, they had to transfer all the heavy statues out of the building in a short time. I had quite a mixed feeling about this. The souvenir shop was not making any money and there were few visitors as there was no advertisement about this center. I wondered whether it was the right choice of place to have so many heavy statues inside a shopping mall.

During the two years of the opening of this center, I did enjoy walking quietly among these statues. I felt it was a kind of museum to be as most pieces were quite old and valuable. The owner must have been a spiritualist or religious person as he had spent a fortune collecting these brass statues and sculptures.

I did wonder if the owner could find a new place for his museum exhibition. The manager of the Cultural Center told me that they suffered a big loss financially as a result of taking the Initial offer from the shopping mall. I think they had unfortunately chosen the wrong location for setting up this center. Most working people would not feel at ease in a prestigious shopping mall situated in the most luxurious shopping hub of Bangkok where most shops were expensive brand names.

I felt rather strange for not having a place, which I treated as a museum, for my weekend visit. I could never get tired of looking at these statues and sculpture. They seemed to have positive vibes for me. The staff was always very kind and allowed me to take photos. I did a few blogs on this Cultural Center three years ago.

I hope that these statues had found a suitable place for their long term residence. It would be nice to encounter these statues once again in the future.
