Today I want to write about Disagreement and racism.

I have been on the block chain for a couple of years now and my greatest shock and amusement has always being when you make a post to a community and choose a tag that belongs to a different Community you posting to.
I have been told many times, you are not from here so you can't use this tag.
It's Ok To Disagree But Don't Be A Racist.
According to the dictionary being a racist means being antagonistic towards a person or a group of people due to their beliefs or ethnicity
It's ok to have individual believes, culture, religion or way of life as humans, it's ok to disagree with other people's opinion/belief because it doesn't suit your ethnicity.
But what is not ok is being racial, why hate somebody because they don't have the same ideology as yours? Or why condemn another person's belief/religion because yours says the opposite?
Always remember, first you are human before you became a certain cuture or religion, what brings us together first is humanity and we should always respect that. Respect people and what they believe in, if you must let a person know you don't agree with their belief, you can always do that sensibly.
E.g, I'll use valentine as a showcase
"Hey friend, I don't agree with celebrating valentine, because it's kind of immoral to me, my religion doesn't even accept it, it feels like encouraging immorality amongst unmarried youths"
Response:
"Hey friend I respect your thoughts and religion but I totally disagree, if you know why it is being celebrated, maybe you'll have a change of mind. It's just a day dedicated to celebrate love, it doesn't have to be amongst sexual partners, it could be celebrated with friends, family even the needy, all that is important is to spread love"
From the above you can see a sensible conversation, different opinions shared without being racial. That is how humans are mend co-exit without resulting into the use of hateful speech or abusive language on eachother.
My point is that, Steemit is a social media platform for all, the one that allows you to freely express yourself but not at the expense of the other, hates, threats, harassment, abuse is not tolerated and will not be tolerated moving forward.
Everyone is welcomed to share their opinions irrespective of your religion, culture and nationality. Please respect eachother, be you a muslim, christian, buddhist, hindu, traditionalist, lesbian, gay, transgender etc...
Take racism out of the way, live and let others live, be human first and accept people for who they are, life is alot easier that way.
