We have all done it. Waking up at the middle of the night to stare at our phone watching our portfolio of coins. Did it rise? Did it fall? Oh my god, it's falling again. Sell. Sell. Sell. Hmm, this seems promising. Let's buy. No. It's falling. Some are even worse. Going to sleep. What's that? I must watch my coins. While some of the fault lies in the fact that exchanges trade 24 hours and this is kind of the wild west for a new kind of living. Revolutionary ideas usually needs a lot of sacrifices. But, let's make sure that sacrifice isn't our health and the only thing we give is our time, passion and love for this. Don't break your health. You are gonna need it if you wanna go to the moon.
So, what can we do to reduce the impact on health from such irrational behavior and have good life-crypto balance.
Setting Boundaries
HAVE A SEPARATE CRYPTO SPACE :
This seems like a weird idea at first. But, once you think about it kind of makes sense. We need the right environment for doing a certain thing. Use this same mentality for your crypto activities. Have a chair in the corner of your room where the only thing you do is crypto. Nothing else. Create a mental barrier. Don't do trading while on your study desk or bed. Separation is the mantra.
DO NOT DISTURB
APPS MANAGEMENT :
If possible, don't have the apps on your phones. Have them on your desktop or laptop. Restrict accessibility to yourself. And if you work from phone, than turn on the DND or do not disturb mode on your phone or turn of notification for those apps. Don't fret over crypto all the time. Crypto is supposed to give us the control of our own destinies and give us privacy. Not take them away.
SLEEP NOW
STRICT BEDTIME :
Maintain a strict bedtime. Don't go overboard about crypto at the middle of the night. When it's time to sleep, IT'S TIME TO SLEEP. No ifs and buts. Don't bring your phone over to your bed. Phone on itself is a distraction from a goodnights sleep. We don't need to add crypto on that list as well.
HAPPY TIME
HOBBIES :
Pick up some hobbies to calm yourself. We have these tendencies to pick up the phone every time we are bored or have nothing better to do. And with crypto in the mix we go straight to our trusty wallets or exchanges. So, pick up some hobbies that stops you from doing just that. Maybe buy a guitar or a bigfat piano with all that profit you got from your moonshots.
PLANE GOES WEEEEEE
PROCRASTRINATE :
Well, we know procrastination takes up a whole lot of our time when we really need to focus on that report we need to submit in 10 hours. So, it's kind of bad. But, in this case, encourage yourself to procrastinate. Let that take up your time instead. Let yourself digress from thinking about crypto. Another benefit of this, your mind would have enough of procrastination and can work when it needs to write that report. I know what you are gonna say. "YOU UNDERSTIMATE MY POWER." But, no harm in trying.
All right. These are all the advice I have for my fellow crypto enthusiasts. These are some of the things that have helped me on this crypto journey I started. Honestly, not that long ago. I hope this article helps some of the young'uns who just have started their journey or even some of the old-timers who still have trouble adjusting. Happy cryptoing.
