THE POWER OF PATIENCE, CONSISTENCY AND ENDURANCE

I am MICHEAL, Kehinde Temitope. I am from Okeho, Kajola Local Government, Oyo State, Nigeria. I graduated from department of Mechanical Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Nothing in life is more rewarding than the power of patience and endurance. My experience on campus would not have worth sharing without patience, consistency and endurance. Permit me to start sharing my experience from the process of admission. When i filled the JAMB form, I chose Federal University of Akure (FUTA), Nigeria, as my first choice and LAUTECH as my second choice. I went for FUTA post UTME but was not successful. Then, I concentrated all my effort to LAUTECH post utme exam.

A day before LAUTECH post UTME exam, I was told by my consultant, the person who helped me and my brother for registration process to go to Ogbomoso through Ibadan from Okeho to collect a slip for a student who is an indigene of my hometown. The slip is not mine, I said to myself. Well, Joyfully, I went to Ibadan to collect the slip while my brother went straight to Ogbomoso. I was delayed at that place because I didn't see the person I was sent to. I later collected the slip late in the evening.

I left Ibadan for Ogbomoso motor park. I saw a car going to Ogbomoso, and as I was about boarding it, a young lady said "this car has been chartered". Then I turned back to look for any available car, but there was none. As I wanted to move, a woman who is the mother of that young lady called me and said " young man, where are you going"? I replied and said, I am going to Ogbomoso. She said, Okay then, I can see some documents you are holding. Are you going for LAUTECH entrance exam? I said, yes. She said, "my daughter is going for the same exam". She told me, as you can see that there is no space left in the car, can you sit on my lap? I didn't want to, but I later said yes.

I sat on her lap till we got to Ogbomoso. It was not easy for me nor her. I just endured it. I really appreciate her for this. God bless you ma. But before then, you know how hard it is to gain admission into any university in Nigeria, especially if you don't know anybody. The woman asked me, "have you written any entrance exam apart from the one you are going for? I said yes, but not successful. She encouraged me to write this one very well and she gave me her brother's number who helped me in the admission process.
