Introducing myself further: I am a dancer.... AND a boxer

in hive-142140 •  4 years ago  (edited)

I started boxing first because I had a hard time with my mental health.

I felt like all the colours had leaked out of my life.
I spent a significant amount of time just staring at the ceiling .
There is more to it than I can reveal here right now but I wasn't in a good place.

One day when I had a particularly bad day, something clicked.
I knew I shouldn't be alone right now. I knew whatever I was dealing with was going to be excruciating for a long time. And I knew I had to find something that will take over my head and my body for a while so I have time to get myself together again!
I knew there was an amateur boxing club right around the corner from where I lived since I walked to it every time I went to the station.

The crazy thing is I went there as if I was on auto pilot and somebody else was in control.
I signed up and started training every day. And like a miracle, as soon as I started exerting myself on a daily basis again, as soon as my muscles gained some strength and I saw little improvements, .... I saw that there was hope. And I realised if I can get through a workout like this every day, I can deal with whatever I have to deal with to get myself into a good place again.

Boxing saved me! It is the ultimate Body, Mind and Spirit sport!

The other positive thing was, I also saw a huge improvement in my dancing! I benefited from the added strength and fitness! I can't imagine my life without it anymore!

You are amazing. I like your commitment to whatever you like doing. I guess boxing like martial arts can also improve your dance skills.

yes, I think it is really helpful. I think a lot of dancers get injuries because they don't cross train enough. sometimes with dancing when you do rehearsals you use the same muscle groups over and over again. so it is important to compensate and do something that uses the whole body. and I think it definitely helped me improve.

excellent photos I also believe that boxing is a good sport and allows to counteract negative energy and stress.

Yes you're right. When I leave the gym my mind is completely clear and relaxed!

UPVOTED!!

Great to see this side of you!!!
