Swamp Dragonfly with Its Prey || 10% to shy-fox

Right there, in the bush near a little swamp, a dragonfly was having a good lunch. A dragonfly is good at flying at a very high speed and can have lightning accelerations, it also has the capability to hover and even fly backwards. Preys are caught by clawed and spiny legs. Seeing that, I came to approach as close as possible to see the real act of this swamp dragonfly, I was finally able to capture some pictures of this predatory insect with its prey.

A dragonfly feeds exclusively on live preys, whether it is still at the stage of larva that consumes a wide variety of insects daily from flies With the help of neuronal package, a dragonfly can track a moving target, calculate a trajectory to intercept that target and subtly adjust its path as needed. Despite having six legs, the dragonflies do not use those to walk, but it is used to hold onto foliage during rest, and grasp prey.

The reason why dragonfly is different from other insects are their eyes, wings, speed during flight and this insect has good eyes to detect the threatening objects that may harm them. In a similar manner, as a dragonfly closes in on a meal, it maintains an image of the moving prey on the same spot—the same compass point of its visual field.
