The Name of the River is Madhumati

Bangladesh is a peaceful country with many beautiful rivers, one of which is the Madhumati river. The origin of the Madhumati river is from Gorai river flowing in Nakol union of Sreepur upazila of Magura district. The river then flows into Kaltala union of Chitalmari Upazila of Bagerhat district and falls into the Shaldaha river. Although the flow of water is stagnant in the dry season, the river basin overflows during the monsoon.

The Madhumati River spirals over Magura, Faridpur, Narail, Gopalganj, and finally over the Moralganj Upazila of the Bagerhat district.
The length of the Madhumati river is 177 km. and the average width is one thousand meters. The widest place is Shirgram in Mohammadpur and Lankarchar in Boalmari. The river is about two thousand square kilometers wide here. The deepest place is Kalitala in Naopara village of Madhukhali Upazila.

This river is rich in delicious fish of different species including hilsa fish. Residents fish with various fishing gear. Besides, settlements have been set up around the river. Fishermen make a living by fishing.
Madhumati now seems to be a hostage to the people. Now there are no more colorful sailing boats. There is no Pansi boat in the ghat of mulla Bari now. The wicked boys do not say when they see the big barge boats of Maru, that the neck of Maru's boat is thick, and no one holds the helm. Due to the development of roads, steamer ships no longer use this river.
However, there is a group of Lathial chiefs on the banks of the river who are intoxicated with the possession of chars. For this, the native weapon spear is used in road rage, Chinese ax, sword, and other tools. Murder with pirates is a daily occurrence.

The life of the people of the river basin is different. The people of the Gangetic valley go to different places for their rituals and social culture. As a result of bathing in the river, the effect of their physical beauty is much more than others. The vastness of the river enlarges the hearts of the river dwellers.
