Last summer, we did a little project at home where we painted the empty wall beside our garage. Since I and my sister were free from school works and projects, we wanted to make ourselves busy by doing something we both loved. We wanted to do an abstract painting using geometric shapes, but our mom suggested that we should have a tropical-themed mural. We created first a sketch of our layout to prepare the design and the colors we needed.
The wall was purely made of cement, and it was not coated with any color yet. During our first day, the first thing we did was paint the wall white, and then we did a second layer of coating. On the second day, we sketched our design on the wall with a pencil then we started painting the skies. We first coated the background with blue. Then we started forming the clouds. On the third day, we began painting the ocean below the skies. We also started doing the small details of the splashing waves on the sand.
Unfortunately, on the fourth day, the rain began to pour. Some of the paint dripped because it wasn't fully dried up yet. Luckily it wasn't that much of a damage. On the fifth day, we started painting the details, the flowers, and the leaves in the foreground. We didn't finish everything that day, so we continued it on the sixth day. My mom wanted to try painting, so she picked up my brush and helped out on some parts. The mural was starting to have its life. On the seventh day, we started adding on the small details and finishing everything up.
It was a one-week project and we finished it right on schedule. My mom was satisfied with the outcome of the mural. We were also satisfied that our mom was happy!
