Earlier I made a blog about "Putul Ghar". Even today I will show you the details about the rest of the "Putul Ghar". I hope all of you will like it .
Today the content of my blog is about,
(1) Benir Putul- West Bengal.
(2) Kathputli-Rajasthan.
Benir Putul is the glove puppet from Medinipur district, West Bengal. The puppets have heads made up of terracotta and wooden hands. The body structure is made from colourful cloths. Benirputul is manipulated with movement of the puppettr's hands and fingers. The cloths are so stitched so sa to leave space for the puppettrs to insert his or her hand into the cloth body to manipulate.
The puppeteers sing as they make there dolls dance along with the beat of gungroo tied around their feet. The stories accompanying their 'dances' were normally about lord krishna. But now a days , Benir Putul is mostly performed for spreading social messages, awareness among the rural people and importance of education.
KathPutli is a traditional string puppet from performed by the Bhat community residing in Rajasthan. The first Bhat puppetry was performed with thirty two puppets portraitying the life and achievements of king Vikramaditya.
The puppets are carved from a single piece of wood and do not have legs. The puppeteers manipulate the puppet with two to five strings tied to their hands.
The puppeteer make a loof around his fingers and manipulates the puppet. He whistles, squeaks voice and are interpreted by a narrow who provides rhythms during puppetry.
Loud beats on the dholak make known the starting of the puppet show.
