Hello friends in the "American Steem" community. It's my pleasure to participate in this beautiful contest. I am new to the platform, at the same time trying to explore and catch some fun.

The most scary favourite movie I have ever watch is "Karishika" and it was with a black and white television of our neighbour. My Dad didn't have a TV, so we usually sneak out to watch a TV in the next compound.

Karishika?

Yes, Karishika. This is a nollywood super horror movie that was directed by Christian Onu and it was released in 1996.

I would say, this movie made my teen years a little scary and a little bit fun.

If you must know, this was one of the classic Nigerian movie back then that had the combination of both the African myths with some scary thrills, making it standout in Nollywood horror category. Infact, back then we tried to avoid watching it at night😄

What is the movie all about?

Karishika is a story of a very seductive and mysterious young lady that uses her beauty and some sort of supernatural powers to lure responsible men to their doom. Her aim was to break homes and destroy.

As her evil deeds keeps increasing, a group of individuals tried to uncover the truth behind her evil powers and to stop her reign of terror. But guess what? It keeps turning bloody on men.

This movie contains African mythology and some horror elements, thereby, creating a thrilling narrative. You can think about all the horror black power from Africa.

The movie eerie cinematography, the movie suspenseful pace and the lead actress (Karishika) terrifying, convincing performance create some huge and unforgettable tension 😅. I could still remember few nights of fear after watching this movie.

The scared part that got me then

The lead actor supernatural powers and her ruthless manipulations got me terrified. The ability she had to shapeshift people in the movie was extraordinary. Sometimes, we want to get this type of supernatural power to control things.

Karishika ability to control men's minds, and to manipulate reality sent chills.

The eerie sounds added to what made it horror. This part really gets me scared. Those sound tracks. The wordings of the acapella sound track is also scary 😱. It wasn't even advisable to watch it at night as a young person. Surprisingly, this was my favourite.

I was scared back then as a kid, but not anymore now. Infact, I just finished watching Karishika again today. I even have it on my phone. But I just can't watch it at night🤣. It only evokes fear at night, meddling with some dark powers remain unsettling.

I am not really a fan of horror movies. And not just that, I do not even watch movies...😀..., I guess because of time.

I have heard of "Karishika" before, I could remember seeing posters that were advertising the movie many years ago.

It's a scary movie 😀
