I Consider Russia An Aggressor and Ruthless Country

As I promised @antorv, I will write a post about Ukraine, its people, and their bravery in facing and responding appropriately to Russia's aggression. By the way, how many of you know, what Russia is doing in Ukraine at this very moment? Perhaps this world is moving towards ruthlessness so fast that many of us do not even know what state the Ukrainian citizens are passing through.

The eyes of the entire world are on the increasing tension between Ukraine and Russia every day. Fierce military tension continues between the two countries. Every country is asking its citizens not to travel to Ukraine without any reason. Indeed, the advance of Russia and the invasion of Ukraine for no special reason has created a strange fear.

Ukraine is close to Russia, and it is the second-largest country in Europe by geographical location where the land is fertile and there are large agricultural fields and heavy industries. Ukraine has good relations with its neighbors, especially with Poland, with which it has very close ties. Ukraine is a country with a very nationalist sentiment.

We all know that Ukraine became an independent country in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. From a geographical point of view, Ukraine has borders with Russia to the northeast and east, Belarus to the northwest, Poland and Slovakia to the west, and Hungary, Romania, and Moldova to the southwest.

The area of Ukraine is 603,700 km². Kyiv is the largest city in the country. The people follow Christianity as the major religion in Ukraine. People mainly speak the Ukrainian language, which is written in the Cyrillic alphabet.

According to the population and politics of Ukraine, the total population of this country is about 45 million. The President here, who was a comedian and actor by profession, won the presidential election in 2019. The special thing is that Volodymyr Zelensky had no previous experience in politics. He used to play a fictional President in a TV show whose popularity grew so much that people elected him as their President.

The national media of Ukraine have adopted a united patriotic agenda. They banned the relay of Russian TV in Ukraine. Although there is a small area in Ukraine where there are countries under Russian or separatist control, even there they have silenced pro Kyiv outlets. Otherwise, Russian websites and social networks are banned in Ukraine.

A minor dispute between Russia and Ukraine has turned into a formidable war. For the last six months, the eyes of the entire world have been on Europe and America, besides these two countries. But many people know the truth about the real reason behind Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

I am aware that Ukraine was one of many countries that broke away from the former Russia following its disintegration. It is also worth noting at this point that Crimea was once a part of Russia, which Russia regained control of in 2014 after declaring independence. Apart from this, most Russian supporters are in Ukraine’s Donbass, Luhansk and Donetsk. Outside of Ukraine, Belarus are firmly in Russia’s camp. Now Georgia maintains a distance from Russia.

But why did Russia take the step of attacking Ukraine?

Perhaps the biggest reason for this is the desire of Ukraine to join NATO and the exercise by the US to include Ukraine in the NATO organization. As we all know, this organization, dominated by America, includes 30 countries, most of which are from Europe. Although most of the army here is from America. Everyone knows America has been doing this exercise continuously to create pressure on Russia and its old cold war. America is already trying to pressurize Russia by imposing sanctions on it.

Although America hasn’t succeeded yet, Ukraine has become a pawn in all this. When America failed, they wanted to do this with the help of Ukraine, and perhaps it acted as a trigger. Russia’s concern is that if Ukraine goes with NATO, the US may be partially successful in harming it on the strength of its military and its weapons. So I think Ukraine is stuck between two superpowers, which is borne by the innocent citizens of Ukraine, especially women and children.

Another reason for this attack is the US and Western European countries’ blocking of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Russia has spent billions of dollars on this project, and through it, Russia wants to supply gas and oil to the whole of Europe, including France, Germany. Earlier, the pipeline through which this supply used to go through Ukraine. For this, Russia used to pay millions of dollars to Ukraine every year. With the construction of the new pipeline, Ukraine’s earnings will almost end. They also included this as a major reason for the separation of Ukraine from Russia.

And Russia regards Ukraine as a part of itself and does not want Ukraine to cooperate with America in no way. And perhaps a big reason for this is, Russia already has an emotional relationship with Ukraine. The foundation of Russia was laid on the soil of Ukraine itself. The western boundary of Russia, the Ural mountain range, also passes through Ukraine.

We all know that the primary identity of Russia is the Ural mountain range that passes through Ukraine. The dispute between the US and Russia has been going on for a long time, but Ukraine has to bear all the brunt of it. Even after the end of the Cold War between Russia and America, the situation has not changed. We never thought that Ukraine would throttle Russia’s power so much and that the war, which seemed to end in 3–4 days, would be so stretched. Ukraine has shown its commitment to independence. Russia is now fighting a lost war for its self-respect. Otherwise, it has suffered financially and faced a lot of casualties.

Yesterday, I heard Ukrainian officials say that there were over 25 casualties and more than that injured as Russia attacked a train station with a missile in Chaplyne. This happened while President Zelensky was having a meeting with the UN Security Council.

Hi, friend. Thank you for your post.

There are some facts we want to clarify.

The area of Ukraine is 607,700 square kilometers.

It's 603 700 km²

I am aware that Ukraine was one of many countries that broke away from the former Russia following its disintegration. It is also worth noting at this point that Crimea was once a part of Russia, which Russia regained control of in 2014 after declaring independence. Apart from this, most Russian supporters are in Ukraine’s Donbass, Luhansk and Donetsk. Outside of Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia are firmly in Russia’s camp. So it simply means Russia surrounds Ukraine.

You are not right, friend. Crimea was annexed. Means, that occupation broke the law. It wasn't like historical russian land even, it was a land of Crimean Tatars, Osman Empire. USSR bastards deported a huge amount of Crimean Tatars and settled russian sailors. All of those were crimes.

Georgia is not pro-russian, friend. They hate russia since 2008 – the occupation of part of Georgia.

Perhaps the biggest reason for this is the desire of Ukraine to join NATO

No. Between russia and USA there's a distance about 4 km. So, in here they aren't afraid of NATO bases?
