@bazer thank you for honouring other countries by organising such an interesting contest. I'm glad to participate in the same.
Greetings! Friends of Steemit and Ukraine on Steem
There is a museum called Alipore Jail Museum in our city where a model of Cellular Jail is shown. The hardship of prisoners are also demonstrated through life-size models.
Despite suffering inhuman hardships, the inmates of the cellular jail did not surrender to the oppressors of the movement, but showed immense and indomitable courage.
Prisoners were often forced to spend long hours in solitary confinement in very small, suffocating, dark cells. This isolation was deplorable, causing prisoners to suffer from deep depression or mental imbalance.
The inmates of the Cellular Jail were tortured frequently and brutally, which often involved whipping. Inhumane beatings often left prisoners seriously injured and sometimes even killed.
Some prisoners were subjected to unethical medical experiments, there they were used as guinea pigs for testing new drugs or surgical procedures. These experiments often cause severe pain, suffering, and sometimes, even death.
The daily rations allotted to the prisoners were meager, and often insufficient. Due to lack of proper nutrition, the prisoners suffered from various disease.
