Hello dear friends. My name is Naira and I am from Armenia. In today's post I would like to talk about one of my favorite streets in our city, Pushkin Street. This street is surrounded by luxury buildings, stylish cafes and expensive boutiques on both sides. It's a preferred destination for shoppers and the best place for walks in the city's central area.

Pushkin Street is home to a boulevard called Northern Avenue. This boulevard connects two main squares in Yerevan: Republic Square and Freedom Square. Originally this area was designed for the elite and some of the most expensive apartments in the city are still located here and in high demand.

If you take an evening stroll here you might notice that many windows are not lit. This can be explained quite simply. First, the residents here do not live in the city permanently. They periodically return to their homeland for work or personal visits. Aand there are many shops here, making it a destination for elite shopping, strolling and exploring various stores.

The artificial pond called "Lebedinoe Ozero" resembles Sevan Lake in shape. When visiting the country, you will notice that many man-made lakes in Armenia resemble Sevan Lake. This place has its own unique charm, it got its name due to its proximity to the opera and ballet theater. In 2003, a unique monument honoring the composer Arno Babajanyan was installed on the lakeshore.

I mentioned earlier that there are two squares adjacent to this street. Republic Square, in particular is worth visiting. Republic Square is a memorable space where five buildings converge around it. This place serves as the center for major events, shows and political demonstrations. What's interesting is that there are entirely different buildings in this area such as the National Gallery, the central post office and the country's luxurious Marriott Hotel. The square should be explored from all angles and the buildings should be examined from different perspectives. And in the evening hours, you can enjoy the fountains here that sing songs. If you're here in the winter, you'll find the city's central Christmas tree here.

Wherever you go here, you will definitely find yourself in a touristy area and encounter many interesting attractions. There's really so much to see around, so it's worth spending extra time here. If you head towards the Yerevan City Hall, you will be greeted by a series of parks. This area includes many parks, including a children's park, English Park and two parks celebrating the ages of Yerevan, 2800 and 2750 Year Parks. All the areas are well maintained and there's always a shaded spot to sit. In the late afternoon, you can definitely witness some fun activities.

Antique enthusiasts will appreciate the items that resemble archaeological findings. So, if you're in Armenia be sure to visit this souvenir market in the heart of Yerevan. Here you will truly find everything you've experienced in Armenia and the prices here are much cheaper than what you'll find at touristy places nationwide. It's definitely one of the best places to visit, very close to the city center, within walking distance and there's an abundance of standard souvenirs, such as magnets and plates featuring Armenian symbols. You can also find very original handmade art pieces.
