Toads have a life cycle that involves two main stages: the larval stage (tadpoles) and the adult stage. Tadpoles live entirely in water and rely on gills to breathe. As they develop, they undergo metamorphosis into adult frogs that can live on land. This change allows them to utilize both habitats in their life cycle.

2 . Distinctive Skin:
Toad skin has the ability to absorb and retain moisture, which is essential for survival in dry terrestrial environments. This skin also functions for additional respiration in low humidity environments. However, they still need a moist environment to keep their skin wet, which aids the breathing process through the skin.

3 . Behavioral Adaptation:
Toads exhibit adaptive behavior to survive in both habitats. On land, they often look for moist places such as under leaves or in holes in the ground to avoid drying out. When they are in water, they can swim and search for food such as small insects or algae.

4 . Survival Ability:
Toads have the ability to reduce their activity when environmental conditions are unfavorable, such as during the dry season. They may enter a estational phase (hibernation) or engage in soaking to reduce moisture loss.

5 . Water-Dependent Reproduction:
Although adult toads can live on land, they need water for reproduction. Toad eggs are usually laid in water, and after they hatch, the tadpoles need water to grow and develop before they can move to land as adult toads. The ability of toads to live in these two places is an example of careful adaptation to their environment, which allows them to survive and thrive in a wide range of conditions.
