Bamboo, protecting my village

This time I will talk about bamboo. In my village, many people have planted bamboo plants for decades. My father once told me that at first there was not much bamboo in our village. Because our village is located on the slopes of a mountain, it is often hit by strong winds so that several houses were damaged badly in the past time. Finally, on the edge of our village, bamboo trees were planted to break up the strong winds so that the house would not be damaged by the wind anymore.

Bamboo trees are also planted on the banks of rivers or cliffs to prevent landslides, because our village is in a highland (1,000 meter above sea level).

From some references that I read, bamboo also produces oxygen and absorbs more carbon than the average other plant.

So, bamboo is very useful for our life.
