AA Maramis Building, currently serving as the Jakarta Department of Finance Building, is one of the historic structures of significant importance in the history of Indonesia's economy and administration.

Located at Jalan Lapangan Banteng Timur No. 2, Central Jakarta, AA Maramis Building stands as an impressive example of Dutch colonial architecture. Constructed in the early 20th century, this building boasts a lengthy history that mirrors the development of Indonesia's economy and administration.

Originally, the building served as the headquarters of De Javasche Bank, a financial institution that controlled the economy of the Dutch East Indies. During the Japanese occupation of Indonesia during World War II, the building housed the Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). Following Indonesia's independence in 1945, the building accommodated various government departments before eventually becoming the Indonesian Department of Finance in Jakarta.

In addition to its historical significance, AA Maramis Building captivates with its colonial-era architectural splendor. Designed by prominent architects of its time, the structure seamlessly combines classical European architectural styles with local influences. The facade of the building is adorned with grand Doric columns, large windows featuring artistic ornamentation, and the distinctive mansard roof.

AA Maramis Building Jakarta was officially designated as a National Heritage Site in 1992, recognizing its high cultural significance. The preservation and maintenance of this building are top priorities, not only to safeguard its historical legacy but also to promote a deeper understanding of Indonesia's economic history.
