Diabetes is a condition in which the body is unable to properly process glucose, leading to high levels of sugar in the blood. This can cause a variety of symptoms, including fatigue, blurred vision, and increased thirst.

Left untreated, diabetes can lead to serious complications, such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure.

The good news is that by making healthy lifestyle choices, you can significantly reduce your risk of developing diabetes.
There are two types of diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes is where the body does not produce insulin and it is usually diagnosed in children or young adults. Type 2 diabetes is where the body does not produce enough insulin or the insulin produced does not work properly. It is the most common type of diabetes and is usually diagnosed in adults over the age of 40.

You can prevent Type 2 diabetes by:

  • Eating a healthy, balanced diet

  • Maintaining a healthy weight

  • Exercising regularly

  • Not smoking

If you have Type 2 diabetes, you can control it by:

  • Taking medication as prescribed

  • Eating a healthy, balanced diet

  • Maintaining a healthy weight

  • Exercising regularly

  • Monitoring your blood sugar levels
