Being a student in the health profession, I can totally relate to this topic. Let's go!

Medications I have at home and why I have them

First, I have a medicine called flu j at home. It is used to treat catarrh and cold. It also treats fever and pain.
It is the rainy season in my country and the weather usually gets cold, especially at night. The cold wind that blows in this weather is usually chilling.
During this weather, a lot of people catch a cold. In fact, it's a common illness during this period. Hence, most households keep drugs that help treat flu symptoms. The usual symptoms we see are coughing, catarrh and fever.

Another drug I have is Coartem which is a market name for Artemether/lumefantrine. This drug is used to treat malaria.
Malaria is a very common illness in my country, Nigeria. In fact, I believe almost every adult in Nigeria has come down with malaria at some point in their lives. There are a lot of mosquitoes in Nigeria which are vectors for the malaria parasite and these mosquitoes transmit it to humans with their bites.

Malaria causes unpleasant symptoms ranging from fewer, to headaches and even joint pains and weakness. Just like other illnesses, it is always good to start treating malaria on time.

I also have a multivitamin drug called Powerdyn. It may not be used to treat any illness, but it is helpful in boosting the vitamin levels in our body. It makes people look healthier. Vitamins are obviously very good for our body.

Most frequently used medication

Without a doubt, the most frequently used drugs are malaria drugs. With the prevalence of malaria in this part of the world, it is not surprising that malaria drugs will be taken more often. There are different brands of malaria drugs, but like I mentioned earlier, the one I use is coartem.

My experience to tell about a particular medication

I have a very recent experience to narrate. I woke up on Saturday morning with a bit of catarrh and a sore throat. I didn't think it was anything serious. The catarrh got worse as the day went by. Parts of my nostrils got blocked. Eventually, I developed a headache. Fever then came up. I was very tired as well.

By the next day, I was in bad shape. So I started taking the flu j drug. With time, I got better. Today, all of the symptoms have disappeared and I am in good health. The medicine really did its job fast. Luckily, this happened to me at the weekend, otherwise the illness would have affected my schooling activities.

This is the flu j drug. I use it when I catch a cold and I develop catarrh. I took the last one not too long ago

This is the Powerdyn multivitamin drug. I take it occasionally to boost my vitamin levels

Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of the malaria drug, coartem, because I ran out of the drug.

Conclusion

We all need to have some medications readily available at home on case of emergencies. Health has to be the priority at all times.
