Steemit Engagement Challenge Season8 Week1: My learning during the pandemic

in hive-145281 •  2 years ago  (edited)

Greetings, steemers!

This is my first time posting on the Steemit Health community, and this I'm pleased to be participating in this contest in which we can all relate without exceptions.

So, before answering the questions, I will just say that the pandemic changed everything, from our lifestyle (although we have been returning to our pre-pandemic rhythm) to our mindset, because I think we all changed the way we see life in a general basis.

I'm willing to read your posts and learn from your experiences. Sometimes other people's stories are so interesting that we find our stories lack some kinda thrill... don't you think?

Ok, now to the questions:

  • What do you consider to be the main lesson you learned from the pandemic?
I learned two important things. The first one being that our society lacks a lot of order and culture to be considered a "civilization" (at least in my country, or most countries in Latin-America) civilizations. I don't know if this can be considered as offensive, but the truth is that societies like ours are way too disobedient, irresponsible, disorganized, and ignorant in terms of social responsibility, which was absolutely necessary in order to help stop the pandemic and prevent ir from spreading the way it did all over the world. We can't deny the fact that people were too stubborn when it came to follow the sanitary regulations that were required to preserve their own lives, and that -on top of things- were so simple to follow.
The second thing I learned is that we don't really know how this world works indeed. Are we actually being controlled? We'll never know, and I don't want to extend myself on this thought, to be honest.

  • Did you have any loss of family or friends because of the pandemic?
Yes. It was a friend of my family who I considered to be like my uncle. He wasn't dying from COVID-19, but his death came as a consequence of the pandemic and the detrimental health system of my country, which was not ready to deal with situations like pandemics, epidemics, or even less than that.

  • Can you tell us about it?
Of course! My uncle had a lung cancer that was being controlled with a lot of effort from the members of his family, who are very poor. He used to be a heavy smoker, but when he decided to quit smoking, he fell ill. Well, to make a long story short, he died one night he had a respiratory failure and there was no oxygen at the hospital he was remitted to. Actually, there was no oxygen at all at any health facility in the whole city, so I guess there were more deaths that night. So sad.

  • What was the most difficult moment during the pandemic?
It wasn't one moment, but the whole time we were out of public transportation because of the lack of fuel for the vehicles. It was hard having to walk long distances during daytime under the sun. It was also hard to see all those deaths on the news everyday. It was heartbreaking and frustrating.

  • After all that process, do you value your health more?
Yes, but what I value the most is the use of masks and all the sanitary measures that kept us away from COVID. I got the Omicron variant on January 2022, though, but I feel it is still no time for leaving our preventive habits aside, you know?

  • Did the pandemic impact your finances positively or negatively? How did you cope?
It did. I was in search for a job when the pandemic stroke this country and there was no way to find a job for several months, in fact, there were lots of people losing their jobs, so it just got harder and harder. I tried to cope with it by looking for remote jobs, but it was also hard finding one. I ended up working for a woman who had a lazy teenager son in high school that needed help with his school assignments (and also discipline).

Lack of oxygen... It must be the worst way to pass on. You want to breath but you cannot.
The problems you have highlighted we also experienced in my country. It saddens me to just thing back at Covid-19 and to relive the images and messages.
Guess what? We are alive!
We should be thankful for every new day.

Yeah, it must have been terrible. It makes me sad when I think about it.
Thanks a lot for your beautiful comment, dear. You're right!

Hello there, thank you for sharing your experience during the pandemic. It is interesting to see how people from different parts of the world experienced it differently. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your family friend and the difficulties you faced during the pandemic. It is a reminder that the impact of the pandemic goes beyond just the virus itself. I agree with you that the pandemic has taught us the importance of social responsibility and how we can come together to fight a common threat. Your story also shows how important it is to be resourceful and adapt to difficult situations. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights.

Wow! Thank you for reading! Your comment was such a pleasure to read :)

Yes you learned a great lesson from this pandemic. You are right that our society and the people living in that society are too much it is possible in my country there was same situation also people are not taking it serious and there were different rumours regarding the Corona virus.

People were giving their reviews on these rumours in their own way and are spreading the messages that were hateful and fearful for everyone. And these are the things that were responsible most act that time for creating the panic.

Many people died at that time and you also lost your family members this thing is very painful for me to hear your story from you.

Bro, thank you so much for taking the time to read. I'm pleased to know you agree with the expressed above, I appreciate it.

My pleasure
