The popular Happy birthday to you...chant ends with how old are you now; I sometimes wonder why how old, and not how young even when the person or celebrant in view is a young child of 5years. So u see we all grow old.

Growth is an important factor in life, it involves the progressive movement of the age of something. Every living thing must grow Then what does growing old entail...let's embark on this enlightening journey together using the following questions as a guide.

GROWING OLD:
What Does It Entail?

Growing old or Ageing in this context involves a gradual, continuous process of natural bodily change that begins from early adulthood. Humans do not become old or elderly at any specific age. However, age range 50 - 65 is seen by most people as when a person is ageing. To the man; growing old involves growing grey hairs (scientifically, this is not really true).

GROWING OLD:
'Healthy and Energetic' or 'Limited and Dependent on Medication'

I want to age in a healthy and energetic fashion, I want to be able to go about my normal day to day activities without complaining of pains and sickness and having to worry others unecessarily. I believe every human too wants this kind of old age and not that of dependency on medications.

GROWING OLD:
Am I Scared

Yes I really am scared of old age. I love being agile, taking risks, and helping old people out....I really can't dream of ageing someday. Even though the thought of growing old still creeps me out because, during this period, many bodily functions begin to gradually decline, the eyesight gets dimer, arthritis, rheumatism and joints pain becomes a rhyme, amnesia(forgetfulness) sets in, not to forget loosing some teeths, dependence on drugs, friends and family creeps in... but, growing old doesn't have to be full of tales of woe, if some habits are picked up and some habits droped. And I think it's better I prepare for old age rather than run away from it.

GROWING OLD:
What age is enough and what do I do.

Talking about 'my life expectancy' is really spooky as I don't want to talk about my own death. However, I can't also live forever, So, I'll love to see the world in good health and condition for a century (i.e 100 years).
To achieve this, I will follow religiously the act of

  • Exercising regularly.
  • Eating a good and balanced diet
  • Running away from smoking, excessive alcohol drinking and hard drugs.
  • living a good lifestyle
  • learning to relax and rest and
  • Maintaining positive relationships .
This i believe would help me achieve my dream age.

My Grandmother

My grandmother though old seems younger than most youth, she's energetic and very strong.

She says the key to longevity is happiness, she smiles always avoids sugary drinks and caffeine, loves gardening and veg she at the age of 75 surprisingly can still run a race (albeit a short one 😊).she reads her Bible without glasses and is always happy and carefree. She's just how I want to be like when am old. I love u granny.

Conclusion

We can make the most out of our lives by living healthy, exercising regularly and avoiding dangerous substances. Old age is not to be feared but welcomed and cherished. An old person is a respectable person. Why become scared of being one. Thank you @steemithealth for this wonderful opportunity to see how we can better our lives. I am grateful.
