Warner Siemens was born on December 13, 1818, in what is now Prussia, Germany. He was the fourth child of a poor farmer father. In all, they were fourteen brothers and sisters. Due to financial difficulties, he had to leave secondary school without any degree.He left school and joined the Prussian army at the age of seventeen.
