MenFun Contest #2 - Furthest Travel

Hello everyone... Hope you all doing well. This is my first article for this community & I'm glad to have submitted my first article to a competition.

During the tour

I am a traveler from Sri Lanka. In my life, I have traveled to lots of beautiful places in my country. Most of the time I love to travel by motorbike. This one also about one of my greatest motorbike tours. I live in the Koralaima town of Sri Lanka. For this tour, My wife, her younger brother & one of his friends were joined. Our destination was the ancient place in my country, named Kadadora temple - Kothmale, Nuwara Eliya district. Before we go there we saw some articles related to this temple. Actually, this is a Buddhist temple, which located under the water in the Kothmale reservoir.

This temple has a story of the past. In 1979, there was a development program called Mahaweli Development Program. Kothmale Dam was constructed under this program. Due to this construction Kadadora temple was flooded. Then it becomes an abandoned and ruined temple. But we were lucky to see & worship this temple once a year. When the water level of the reservoir goes low, we can see the ruined temple. So we decided to get this rare chance to see the temple. Early in the morning, we started our tour from my residence. We ride to Kandy & spent some time there while getting our breakfast.

Then we headed to Gampola road & turned into Kothmale road. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day in that area. So we had to stop at several locations to escape from the rain. However, we were able to reach our destination at about 11.00 am. We parked our motorbikes road by side & started walking into the temple. Misty weather condition adding us a new experience. We took some photographs there & decided to come back quickly due to bad weather conditions. We got our lunch at a small village hotel & had a hot coffee. It helps us to feel comfortable in rain. Because of the rain, we decided to use an alternative route for our tour than the previous road. We had to ride in the rain until our tour ends. Actually, It was a great experience for us. 295Km ride for a single day. Sometimes you may think that we are crazy to say that this tour is comfortable. Of course, we are crazy about traveling. No matter how hard was it, No matter how tough the road was it. We love it. This is our passion, Travelers...
