A New Year, New me.

I believe that if we are still in the month of January, we are still in the new year and it is not too late to make new year resolution or new year changes. Also, a big kudos goes to @eveetim for raising this contest topic especially the “dey for who dey for you” part which may be the most interesting part of my write up. Let’s go straight to the questions.

Is it really important to look back at the past years and make adjustments?

Yes! There is one thing I know which is that if you do not take note of your past mistakes, you will repeat the same thing. We have to be very observant of all the things that happen to us throughout the year and I feel that is why we should have a diary which would help us keep a record of all we are going through.

Now, if we look back at all the things we did last year, no matter how good or perfect we may be, we are not always right. So, we should try to spot our mistakes so that we won’t repeat it and we can make adjustments.

Tell us about the aspects you have adopted changes this year.

This goes for my spending habits. Honestly, I have a good spending habit but I just feel I needed to adjust. I’m very good when it comes to saving money but when I eventually want to get something for myself, I always get something that is way too expensive which may even affect me later. I feel I need to work on that and that’s why I’d be changing that motive this year.
If I do that, I’d be able to save more and channel that energy into buying things that I can benefit from or that are profitable.

About the slogan "dey for who dey for you." Do you think people should relate only with those who relate with them, even if it were their family members and close friends?

Yes! I feel the slogan “dey for who dey for you” is telling us not to force things. Do not force conversations, relationships or anything. If you decide to “dey” for everybody, you will eventually get used. I used to be like that until people showed me their real colors.
In today’s world, a lot of people are users. A lot of people may not even have good intentions for you. All they want to do is use you but if you see that truly, some people “dey” for you, you should “dey” for them too. That’s how it works.

Do you think as we enter the new year that we are getting older and there should be a change of attitude? Explain.

New year means new things. There is something that attaches new year to new things. That’s why so many people see the date January1 as a day when you can change things around. That’s where the new year resolution comes in too.
So in the new year, it’s very good to make positive affirmations for the year and stick to your motto for the year. So yes, there should be a change of attitude.

Are there attitudes you need to do away with this year? Tell us about them and the reasons why you need to change them.

Yes! Helping those who ain’t worth it. A lot of people believe that they can just run to me and ask me for help. Well, they are not wrong because they know I will help them but I’m not benefiting from them so there is no point helping them. I’m not trying to be transactional about being helpful but the world has gotten to a stage where you have to help people who you know you can benefit from. That’s it and that’s what I’d be doing this year.
