Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 34: Time Changes

This is quite a profound contest, it really makes someone to think about how much the world has changed in the last ten years , and how those changes has affected us as individuals. i will like to mention this five things that were present in my country ten years ago but not now.

★ A large number of payphones

payphones were a common sight in many countries around the world, they were use to make call when people don't have a cellphone, or if they ran at of battery . But with the Advent of smartphones and others mobile devices, payphones have largely become obsolete. Today, it is not uncommon to see payphones gathering in public place, or even being removed entirely. It is a reminder of how much technology has changed in a short period of time.

★ The price of commodity
It is important to note that price of commodity vary depending on many factors, such as supply and demand, global economic condition, government polices. We can say that price of commodity have increased in the last ten years, for example the price of oil has increased significantly, which is affecting the price of gas and other products made from petroleum. The price of food has also increased in Las t ten years in my country , a bag of rice that is sell of ten thousand naira is now recently sold at the rate of ninety thousand naira. Another factor that has affected the price of commodity is inflation, inflation can be cause by a number of factors, such as an increase in money supply or decrease in production of goods . in the last ten years in my country, inflation has increased, leading to higher price of items.

★ Newspaper

The decline of newspaper in the last ten years in my country has been quite dramatic, as more and more people have turned to digital source for their news , the demand for newspaper has decreased. This has led to the closure of many newspaper and the downsizing of others, some have argued that it is a natural progression as technology changes other has expressed concern about the loss of local journalism and the impact of democracy. The decline of newspaper affected people in so many ways like loss of job in the industry as circulation decrease, this also less to layoffs and job insecurity for many people who work in the newspaper business.

★ Fewer smartphones

Indeed, the smartphones has been one of the most disruptive technologies in recent years . in the last ten years, smartphones adoption has skyrocketed, this has led to a decrease in the demand for features phones, which were once the most popular type of mobile phone. As a result, many manufacturer of features phones have gone out of business or been absorbed by larger companies , for example NOKIA phone is one of the most popular and best phone in those days but now no more, another one is foldable phone, the rise of foldable phone, these phone have a flexible screen that can be folded in half , allowing for a larger screen size in a smaller form factor, but now no more in existence.

★ Video rental store
The video rental stores was once a staple of many communities but in the last ten years, they have largely disappeared, the rise of streaming services like Netflix and Amazon prime has led to a decrease in demand for physical media like DVDS and Blu-rays .
The increasing availability of high speed of internet has made it easier for people to stream movies and TV shows directly to their devices, while the decline of video rental stores may seem like a loss for many people, it has also had some positive effect for one because it led to a decrease in the amount of plastic wastes created by physical media , it has also made it easier for independent film makers to get their work seen by a wider audience.

In conclusion, has this changes affected me in any way? in terms of technology this changes has no effect on me because change of technology is improvement of good life and way of living, changes of technology is seem as a natural progression.
