Hello dear Nigerian friends, I'm back here again to participate in the contest hosted by @lhorgic about what we think about the statement "Opportunity comes but once". Read my answers to the contest questions below:
What is your definition of the word "Opportunity"
I can define opportunity as a situation ir occasion that allows you or gives you the chance to do something you desire to do. It means that someone got the chance to do something he wants.
There have been different sayings about opportunity and how many times a person can have it. Some say it comes only once, others disagree.
Prior to the stage i am today I have always been made to believe that I can only have one opportunity at a time, but today I have come to think about that statement to examine whether it is true or not. I will share my thoughts with you as you keep reading
What is your thought and perspective about this statement,do you agree with this statement.
A lie that is repeated a thousand times can never turn into truth, neither can truth repeated many times cease to be the truth.
I think there are always better opportunities if we eventually miss any. Though some opportunities come only once, not all opportunities comes just once, sometimes we may be more fortunate to get a better opportunity after missing a particular one.
Do you think this statement is misleading?
The statement "opportunity comes but once" has been repeated a thousand times and people has come to believe in it. This ancient statement has proven to shape many people's ways of life and behavior.
Those who believe in the statement for they can to grab any opportunity that comes their way since they believe that such opportunity will not be given them again.
Some even go the extra mile to do things that are not genuine just to grab a particular opportunity. As a result, many has been hurt badly, some end up in jail and may other consequences.
Though the statement can be true in some case, It is also very misleading because people get confused of the ares to apply it.
Do you have any personal experience or from someone you know to back up your take about the statement? Do share with us.
Yes, I have a personal experience.
Once upon a time @adinduglory was broke 🙃🤣, she needed a lot of cash to clear her bills including school fees.
Out of the blue an opportunity for her to get money, a lot of money just showcased. A friend from secondary school contacted me and asked me to give him my Facebook account with the password that he needs it for a business. The business is worth a million Naira and he will pay me N150,000 if I give him the account.
Making inquiries about the business he is doing I found out that he defrauds people to get money and that's why he needed the Facebook accounts.
Since I'm not in support of frauds i refused to give him my account and besides what if something happens a.d they trace the owner of the account. After considering those things I turned down the offer and the opportunity.
Still broke, i wondered what to do, but then he next day my uncle in the United States sent money to my mother to clear my school fees for me and some extra money as well. Even higher than what I could have gotten from the fraudulent act. Opportunity comes not just once
If you were to rephrase this statement, what would the new statement be. (Optional).
"Opportunities come, not just once but many times but it's always good to grab the good ones early enough"
Never go for bad opportunities, oly go after good ones and only do what you can so as not to get into trouble.
I invite @solexybaba, @olabillions, @okere-blessing to participate in the contest
Best regards: @adinduglory
