This week's drawing contests centers on Cockroach. Cockroach is a household pest found in the corners and hidden areas of the house. They are known for their destructive nature. They are are really annoying creatures that's unpleasant to the eyes.

Cockroach is a winged insect that has three body segments ( head, thorax and abdomen ) and 3 pairs of walking legs. They are usually reddish brown and possess a pair of antenna for sensing. An interesting fact about this anthropod is that they don't die easily, they can survive physical damage as long as their head is intact with the body, they will still survive.

Cockroaches feast on books, clothes, food items and furniture. They destroy household goods. Therefore, they of great economic concern. Health wise, cockroaches can be dangerous. When they come in contact with food or cutleries, they contaminate it. Using these cutleries to eat without proper cleaning or eating the contaminated food unknowingly can predispose someone to illnesses .

This is because they are vectors of organism-causing diseases. such as salmonella, staphylococcus, And when they infest areas where we cook, they cause diseases Ike dysentery, cholera, typhoid fever, gastroenteritis etc. This eventually leads to hospital visits and increased treatment costs.

Therefore, it is important we keep our household free of cockroaches . Clearing off excess loads, keeping garbage bins clean and covered, not allowing it to full up and spilling over before emptying, avoiding storing loads at hidden areas or corners, intermittent use of insecticide can help us have a clean house free of cockroaches.
