Here I bring us inspiring books which is geared towards putting us in the mood to move from the review to the real book. Over time I have reviewed different books from different genres because we are not limited to what we read so as long as it would light up our path.
This week we would be diving into the world of marriage. To all the singles in the house I ask “Who wants to be married?”. Yeeeeeeh! Me! I know you want to too. So let see this interesting book I read on marriage tittled “When am I ready?”

My opinion about the book “When I my ready?”
Introduction/Theme
Have you ever come to that point when you have the thought of getting married either as a man or a woman and then there’s this other nagging thought behind asking yourself if you are ready to be married?
So you know you want to be married but you don’t know if you are ready to be married. Anyways. If you are or have ever found yourself in this situation, this book is just for you and it’s good your are walking down this isle with me.
So let see some things that would answer the question as to whether you and I are ready for marriage. Shall we?
Let’s look at some points to glean from this beautiful book.
Key points from the chapters
Let me start by saying that the wisdom contained in this book is for Christians who want to get their marital journey right and want to pattern their marriage after the injunctions of the scriptures. Having said that let’s proceed.
- Marriage is God’s idea and marriage is a beautiful thing. Many people have the notion that marriage has to be difficult and stressful with plenty of fighting but it doesn’t always have to be that way.
God who instituted marriage didn’t say any of that and that simply means that we could have a good marriage if only the two parties involved are willing to contribute their best to make their marriage work.
- The perspective on marriage of the two parties who are on the verge of getting married are very important. People see things differently and their perspective will always influence their actions. There’s must be compatibility of perspective with the two parties as this would make or mare the marriage.
If one party believes in divorce and the other doesn’t, they would have a clash. They need to see things from the right stand points as to what kind of marriage they want. The best perspective is to see things from the stand point of the scriptures.
- Marriage is not for girls or boys. Marrige if for matured people. Maturity here has nothing to do with age as there are old but still childish people and there are young but reasonable people too.
Maturity here points to mental, emotional, psychological, financial and physical maturity. It’s ok to take your time to discover yourself before talking of going into marriage that’s in the areas of physical maturity. You should be willing to take responsibility for your life before marriage and after.
- The subject of purpose cannot be over emphasized. When you have discovered your purpose, it’s easier to choose a life partner who is going in the same direction. Both parties must discover their purpose as singles before marriage.
Division has arisen in some marriages due to the two parties having divided ambitions and purposes and hence cannot work together. Imagine a pastor getting married to a passionate carrier woman who is uninterested in ministry and not a people person, that’s disaster in the making.
There are other things worthy of note that would let you know if you are really ready to be married. I believe I’ve whet your appetite enough to want to get the rest for yourself. See more for yourself in the pages on the book.
My rating of the book
Marriage is an all encompassing subject and no two marriages are the same. There can never be a complete book that would trash the issues and peculiarities of each marriage. We read them and get universal principles that we could apply to our personal relationships.
This book as succinctly as it is, is a good one to get us started. I give it a rating of 8/10. Would you dig in and share your thoughts on my rating?
Conclusion
When am I ready is worth reading cos we all have come to that juncture when we asked this question and here’s our amswer in plain white paper.
It would helps us become the right person before we find that other right person.
