Give us a brief introduction to your country.

Nigeria is my country is located in West Africa. It has an area of 923,768 square kilometers equivalent to 356,669 square miles. It has a population of about 228,181,000. It has 250 ethnic groups, the major languages are; Hausa Fulani, Igbo, and Yoruba. The two major religions in Nigeria are Christianity and Islam and then the traditional religion.

Nigeria came under British control in 1861 and a colony in 1914, which is the amalgamation of southern and northern regions. Before now each of these regions was independent of its own. Nigeria became an independent in 1960 and a republic in 1963. Ethnic disagreement soon led to military coups. Military ruled the country from 1966 to 1979 and from 1984 to 1999.

There was a civil war from 1967 to January 1970 in an attempt by one of the sections of the country that is Eastern region to be on its own, called Biafra. Nigerian capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja in 1991

What is/are the mineral resources your country is blessed with

Nigeria is blessed with so many mineral resources such as natural gas, limestone, lead, zinc, arable land arable land, petroleum, precious stones such as sapphire, aquamarines, etc. These mineral resources are found in different regions of the country.

Have these mineral resources been fully harnessed

These mineral resources are not fully utilized. When petroleum was discovered little or less attention was paid to other mineral resources because it is mined in large quantities daily and so assumed to bring faster results. These resources are not fully harnessed because of a lack of technical know-how.

Has the proceeds from these resources been used properly by your government for the welfare of her citizens...support your answer (Yes/No) with good points.

The proceeds from these mineral resources have not been put into proper utilization for the welfare of Nigerian citizens. Nigeria realizes about
1,650,000 barrels of crude oil daily at an estimated amount of 76 US dollars per barrel. It means Nigerian is realising about #189,000,000,000:00 in a month.

In Nigeria, development concentrates on city centres leaving rural areas with little or no development. Good roads, pipe-borne water, hospitals with qualified medical doctors, electricity, and educational facilities are concentrated in the city centers which an average Nigerian cannot reach, leaving the rural populace with nurses and health attendants. Most of the rural settlers share drinking water with animals.

The rural populace which constitutes about 95 percent does enjoy a little of these social amenities. An average Nigerian worker lives on about #1,888:00 per day equivalent to one US dollar. Educational facilities are dilapidated especially primaries and secondary schools.

Education is becoming so expensive that an average Nigerian cannot send two to three kids to school at the same time. A Nigerian student going to law school today will pay a registration of #1,500,000:00 and medical and engineering students too have to spend much to acquire education on no scholarship.

And yet, the Nigeria law marker was given cars worth #150,000,000:00 each an equivalent of 1,973,684: 00 US dollars, and they are one hundred and nine apart from the lower chamber who are three hundred and sixty 8apart from what is an expense in the executives. And yet Nigeria is saying it does not have enough to take care of its citizens. An average Nigerian hardly feeds twice a day. Even if he does, it does not give perfect satisfaction.

With these, you should know that Nigerian leaders do not utilize the resources to better the lives of the citizens.

When petroleum was discovered, everyone focused on it and it was being extracted in large quantities every day. It was a major breakthrough as the reigning commodity so they didn't pay much attention to other mineral resources. As a result, these resources haven't been fully utilized. Without the right know-how, it's difficult to make the most of these resources. Hopefully, in the future, more attention will be given to exploring and utilizing these minerals to their full potential.
