Explanation

Now I'm going to share a woodpecker drawing with you all. Without further delay, let's get started.

Step 01

1000036760.jpgStart to draw

To draw a woodpecker, first I gather the necessary materials. Then, using a pencil, I draw the beak, head, and eyes of the woodpecker.

Step 02

1000036761.jpg1000036762.jpg

Next, I draw the lower part of its body. I sketch its legs and claws. Then, I draw the entire body from the tail to the head.

Step 03

1000036763.jpg1000036764.jpg

Starting from the tail, I make several pencil strokes up to the middle of the body. I draw the tail section separately. To show the bird sitting on a tree trunk, I draw a tree trunk.

Step 04

1000036765.jpg1000036766.jpg

Now, I use a gel pen to make my drawing clearer. The woodpecker drawing is complete. Now I will start coloring.

Step 05

1000036767.jpg1000036768.jpg

For coloring, I first paint the top part of its head red and add some red behind the beak. Then, I start coloring the eyes, the lower part of the beak, and the wings black.

Step 06

1000036774.jpg1000036776.jpg

Gradually, I color the wings and also paint the lower part of the tail black. Now, I color the legs and lightly shade the beak with a pencil, adding a little yellow to the back part. Then, I give the final touch to the entire coloring.

Step 07

Now I will color the tree trunk. I use brown for this and apply black in some areas. My drawing is now completely finished.

Have ever seen one?

Yea, woodpeckers are very common in Bangladesh. I personally have seen this bird many times and most especially in rural areas where trees are many in number. Once I went out in my village for a walk near me I saw a woodpecker pecking a tree trunk. At first I was surprised. Such a strong beak in a tree and shake it. I saw later they peck to hunt insects. It was an amazing sight.

ar4.png

What type of animal is it?

Woodpeckers is a common birds in BD but they are different from other birds. Normally this bird pecks tree trunks for insects or to make its nest. It sits on tree branches or trunks, and uses a beak to hit the wood in order to get insects. In Bangladesh we see woodpeckers in gardens and forests, especially around dense tree coverage. Woodpeckers assist in natural balancing.

ar4.png

What are its characteristics and what makes it unique?

The strongest part of a woodpecker is its beak. The beak is so sharp and powerful it is able to peck hard at a tree's trunk. The woodpecker pecks for insects. A helmet-like pommel on its head protects the brain whilst pecking. It has strong feet to hold it fast to tree branches. Its beak and feet are designed to help the peck and find insects. They are important for the environment for helping to control pests that damage trees, and keeping them healthy. The things that make a woodpecker different from other birds.
