Accepting change is part of life and it can happen at any moment, even when the change is as simple as a change of environment. People face changes in their lives at different moments, for example, a new city, a new job, or a new stage in life, and every new stage has its difficulties and benefits. In this contest sponsored by the Steem4Nigeria community, I am pleased to tell you my story and some things to consider as individuals undergo changes, transition, and adapt to new environments or situations. That is why adapting mostly serves to make us more adaptable as well as to become more resistant and, perhaps, to comprehend more about ourselves and everything around us.
Moving from one environment to another was always a part of life, it has helped me to build my coping mechanisms over the years. From my childhood, my father was a government service holder and always transferred from one place to another. Now, am in the same shoes as my husband and he is in the government service department. We recently shifted our residence from Dhaka to Jashore due to his transfer.
The shift of environment from Dhaka to Jashore created significant alterations in my lifestyle especially while having a 3-year-old baby boy. Jashore is a comparatively quiet city on the map of Bangladesh, therefore gives a different experience as compared to a fast-paced city like Dhaka. The effects of cleaner air being closer to nature or both have been positive on both of our bodies. There are few social activities but those few are less hectic so I have more quality time with my family. Each day I have a little more time for myself and my creative self and is not as stringent as before. In general, I think it has proved more beneficial than averse to our family’s health, and is gives us a nice change of pace from the fast pace of city living.
Change is always difficult for me and it is hard when one needs to adjust to a new working environment but I have learned how to cope.
✅Establishing a Routine: I have been blessed with a 3-year-old baby boy hence developing a stable routine has been a significant boost. It also enabled us to adapt to the slower tempo of life in Jashore, as well as establish some routine in our daily lives.
✅Exploring the Area: I have tried my best to find out parts of Jashore now I know where there are some parks and local markets and places where my family and I can spend some time. This has aided in our adjustment to the new environments as we feel we are part of the community.
Exploring new places
✅Staying Connected: Jashore is less noisy and I am keeping in touch with my friends and relatives via the phone and Facebook thus I was able to continue the relationships I had in Dhaka.
✅Finding Joy in Simplicity: I have embraced the slow life and time, the ability to develop on a personal level, and the time to care for the baby and enjoy nature. That has eased the process of making me feel more grounded.
✅Self-Care and Relaxation: As the expectations are not imposed from the outside, I’ve stayed active and engaged in numerous self-care practices – I go walking, drawing, and spend time with my family.
On the whole, changes that have occurred imply a positive scenario, let me enjoy the quiet of Jashore and remain connected with several folks.
Comparing the old environment of Dhaka and the new environment of Jashore, I would prefer the new environment more. Although City life of Dhaka has its lively nature and flexibilities, at the same time, living in Jashore has its charm with its calm and shale environment suitable especially for my family and me after being in an industrial city.
Enjoying the new environment, spent precious moment with family
This is much more therapeutic compared to the hustle and bustle of Dhaka and the feeling of actually living closer to nature in Jashore is perfect for a more balanced and harmonized life especially when raising a 3-year-old baby. It is a good thing to be able to take time and be calm, and also be with my family. While Dhaka has displayed more energy and a livelier social life, the simplicity of Jashore has been more appropriate to us at this time and has had a beneficial effect on our health.
