Hello Steem4Nigeria Community

Hello My Steemain Friends ,

How are you. I hope you people of steemian are good and enjoy your life . Well I am well. May God bless you all. Today I am writing about an interesting and knowledgeable contest which is launched by @steem4nigeria all time my favourite topic "Accelerator Contest Week 63: The lies I grew up believing." So, in this post I am going to share my point of view about this topic

What were the lies you believed while growing up?y

There are many things which we remember today from our childhood which makes us laugh. But we get a different happiness because that childhood world was very different, tension free, which had fairy tales. There was a story which I had read, in which it was said that ask for a boon and you got a power that whatever you touch will turn into gold, then at that time I used to think, oh friend how lucky people are. I wish we also get this power.

There are many such things which we used to think in childhood that if a tooth breaks then bury it in the soil, only then another tooth will grow, otherwise a rat will take it and no tooth will grow. If while eating someone, tamarind or any seed goes inside the stomach, then now a tree will grow from inside your stomach. It makes us laugh a lot. Children used to say among themselves that collect the pencil peel, rubber will be made from it. Till date I have not understood how it will be made.

What was your reaction after finding out the truth as an adult

After knowing the truth as adults, when I slowly started understanding everything, it was very funny. What kind of things did we believe. But this is childhood. Today, when I see my children doing the same thing, I share it with them. Hey, we also used to do the same things.

All these fairy tales, stories of boons, all these are bookish things. They have nothing to do with our real life. We just understand that everything will be achieved through our hard work, nothing is going to be received as a boon. But it is also true that sometimes you get to learn a lot through these stories.

Do you subscribe to telling lies to young minds in a bid to protect them or you choose to call a spade a spade

This is a complicated question, I support the fact that one should not play with the minds of children. They should be made aware of the truth. But sometimes parents have to say such things which are beneficial for them and there is no harm to the children in this, rather parents lie for their present or future welfare. Because nowadays children are not ready to understand anything sometimes. Now not everything that children say can be believed, because elders have experience and on the basis of their experience they show their children the way forward.

Sometimes parents have to say such things so that the children do not go on the wrong path. Understand the value of your family, but there is no harm to the children in this. Because sometimes the naive mind of children does not have the strength to understand the truth. Therefore, with time when they understand and they become so mature that they can now face the truth, then they are told that it was said so that you do not have to face difficult problems.

This situation comes in front of every parent, a parent will always behave with his children in a way that benefits him.

Hi @aviral123,

It was nice going through your entry. I’ve heard the same stories! I used to be terrified that a plant would grow inside my stomach. I think these tactics were used by our parents to keep us safe or encourage good habits. In most cases, it’s important to step into a child’s world and explain things in a way they’ll remember. I agree, that children nowadays are different, and as parents, we need to find new ways to discipline them or at least get them to listen to us.

Have a great day ahead!

Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.

Parents tell lies for their children's safety, growth, and many other reasons. However, I believe that if they could explain to us politely and with a reasonable explanation, we would have learned a lot during our childhood.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:
Thanks for being open in this contest and also share your own lies told you when you were a child. Sometimes, it takes discretion to keep certain things from children though not all should be lies to them. I can remember when my parents told me if a touch a lady's hand, I'll get her pregnant. I refrained from touching girls which was a way to protect me somehow. Best of luck
