My dear enthusiast! it's a pleasure to share with you all my Neighborhood watch and this week turns to be a tragedy.
In our dear community, we definitely always look out for each others well being. Recently, something really sad happens in our institution - University of Uyo. An Undergraduate from the Department of Anatomy lost his life during the GST ICT-based exams tour. This dramatic scene event really affected many people, including all students, lecturers and families of the deceased.
What Happened?
Looking back to when university of Uyo changed GST exams from hand written to Digital base ICT last session. The atmosphere was so unfriendly and I could remember sharing my experience on it here on Steemit. This was my 200l second semester, the hell I passed through was nothing to talk about and I couldn't wish anyone pass through that again but my school don't care about that even when they're aware of the drama and scene occuring.
This unfavourable condition will put blame to the university management and GST department in particular, looking into statistics that the school have 500 working digital devices or less and with over 10k students writing the course last session the drama was something not to continue this session. But the school go on with it and this time the population even doubled as the school admits two set 2022 and 2023 jambites as 100 level A and 100 level B.
With over 15k+ Undergraduate writing this course this time with few accessible digital devices, it was more so emotional 😭.
- During the current exams, there was a whole lot of pressure. The Students were really nervous because they wanted to do well and at same time want to write immediately and leave due to the weather unfriendly condition which was raining 🌧️. Unfortunately, during the strongly one 100 level student faced a very tough and emergency situation. Despite his hard work 💪, the struggled during the exam. Sadly, He collapse and was rushed to the school clinic. later in the evening a report reached the department of Anatomy the he passed away 😭 and was an Asthmatic patient.
This news really shocked everyone and leave everyone blaming the school for this poor and unconcerned planned and till now the students are still mourning, and this is when the school takes the decision to return to hand written format after the tragedy.
How We Can Help This Scene |

We know too well that when something bad like this happens, it’s really important to talk about it. We definitely can support each other well by listening and sharing our own feelings. In our dear neighborhood, we can definitely create a safe much space arena for the students to express their worries and as well fears about exams and every other thing.
- My sincere advice to my school management is that we know the school lack a good and adequate ICT facilities despite the fact that it's a good improvement to save scenarios of missing scripts and the rest. But the current situation turn out more dangerous to adapt and adopt so I think it's better for the school to return to the normal hand written format until when the complete and enough facilities are employed then the digital base ICT format can be adopt and properly adopted.

Remembering Our Friend
Again We should endeavor to remember the student who lost his life during the struggle. He really worked hard and definitely had dreams just like all of us do. Please Let’s do well to honor his memory by really being kind and so encouraging one another. I appreciate the School Management: including names like The Dean of Students, Prof. Etefia, The SUG President-Elect, Comrade Ndueso Peter for reaching out and consoling with the family of the deceased student.
