MEANING OF HABITS

Hello steemians! Let's talk about habits, habits are behaviors that are established in our daily routines. They are actions we perform repeatedly most times without conscious thought. Habits are performed without deliberate intentions, sometimes it responds to specific stimuli like time of the day, location, event you attend or people around you. Habits are not fixed as we can create new connection for actions.

TYPES OF HABITS

  1. Good habits: As the word implies, good habits are positive behaviors that foster emotional well-being and resilience. It promotes personal growth and development. Few examples of good habits are regular exercise, healthy eating, meditation, reading, learning, etc. Good habits lead to better physical and mental health. It enhances success, confidence, great happiness and fulfillment. If we adopt good habits we can transform our lives and achieve our goals.

  1. Bad habits: Bad habits are behaviors that negatively impact our physical, emotional and mental well-being. Bad habits are harmful to our health, relationship or productivity. They are difficult to let go and they are also unhealthy. Examples of some bad habits are; smoking, unhealthy eating habit, laziness, procrastination, cheating, negative self-talk, overspending, etc. Bad habit leads to physical or mental problems, if we address bad habits we will have positive well-being.

MY BAD HABITS

I am human and like every other person, I have my imperfections. I acknowledge that I struggle with certain bad behaviors like;

  1. Overspending: sometimes I struggle with managing my expenses which leads to financial stress. Once I have money it used to be like sparks in my body to eat whatever I feel like eating and do whatever I want to do with money.

  2. Unhealthy eating: I occasionally given in to my cravings for unhealthy food which can negatively affect my physical health. I have recognized this habit and I am committed to developing a healthier financial habits through mindful spending. Also, I am cultivating a balance diet and healthy eating by controlling my urge for unhealthy food. I hope to overcome this challenges soon.

HABITS THAT HAVE HELPED ME

Dancing and learning are wonderful habits that have positively impacted my life over the years. Dancing has physical, mental and social benefits. It reduces stress and boost my mood, I make new friends whenever I follow my husband for a dance session.

Learning expands my knowledge and improve my level of critical thinking. It enhances skill advancement and professional development.
These habits has helped me to relieve stress and relax through dance. It also increase my level of confidence and self-esteem through learning.

Habits can be learned

I believe that habits can be learnt. Habits can be learnt through practice, for example I had to practice the habit of dancing since I love it when I see people dance.
I love swimming and I acquired the habit of swimming from my late father. As a child, I was exposed to river and streams, my dad used to take me with him whenever he's going fishing. Having a supportive role model like my father made leaning and maintaining my habits easier for me.

In conclusion, habit shape our lives and understanding how habits work can empower us to make positive changes in our lives.
