My Neighborhood Watch #82 - Reporting Events Around us

The compound was filled up with people, mostly the women. They came out to help the mother of the child to prepare meals that will be used for entertainment.

 Witnessing a child dedication

First Sunday which was 5th January, 2025 was a remarkable day in my family. A day to remember, an unforgotten day. On this day, my cousin Mrs Blessing took her child to the church to thank God for finding her worthy to be a mother.

As it is normally done, some meals will be cooked on this occasion, showing how special the day is and how happy the parents to this child. Early Sunday morning, many women arrive the compound to assist in preparing the meals. They cook Jellof rice, pudding plantain, Afang soup and chicken pepper soup.

As a neighborhood watcher, I have to make sure I go around to know what and what is going on aside from the meal and along the journey, I come across the person who make the event stands, am referring to my very own cousin, the mother of Master Usoro with a make-up person. It's time for the mother to have a different look, of course you know women when it comes to occasion, they love to be more beautiful.

Meeting them about to start the process, I noticed my cousin face seem not to be bright as I knew her, asking what is the problem, she said the make-up person just arrived which means she is late as she is not keeping to time schedule. To be in church on time, the make-up person kept her things in place and started applying it on her face and when she is done, she move quickly to tie gele. She was fast and in about an hour, she did a perfect work on her face.

Then she dress up, come out and take some pictures before leaving to church. Immediately her, husband and the child left, I get myself ready to join them in church in order to witness the dedication.

Reaching the church, Mount Zion Gospel, they have already started and so I joined to rejoice with her. When order of service was done, the lead Pastor E. Nyong called the parent of the child to bring him forward and they went to the front and handed Master Usoro to the pastor.

The pastor pray and dedicated the child, then a chance of thanksgiving was giving to them which everyone joyfully rejoice with them as the sing and dance. And after the session of thanksgiving, the church was dismissed and the reception takes place in the mother parent compound where everyone who was able to go, enjoy themselves before returning back.
