Hello friends, I trust that you are doing great. Water is very essential in everything we do. In fact, without water, life would not exist. We use it for various things. Even plants requires it to be sustained.
One of the basic uses of water is to wash and cleanse ourselves through bathing. Many people bath with only cold water while others prefer it warm or hot. For any of the above groups, they definitely have their reasons for doing so. What about me, what is my choice?
My choice
Like I said earlier on, many people have different choices, but on a personal level, I prefer my bathing water to be hot or warm.
Factor Influencing this decision.
There are so many reasons for taking this stand.
Family Background
One of these reasons is my family background. It is a custom in my family right from childhood to bath warm or hot water. My mom always have 2 large vacuum flask stored with hot water at any point in time. My mom never allowed us to bath cold water for fear of catching cold. Many times I did that back then, I will immediately catch cold as a young child. Thus, I grew with that mindful conception and it has been helpful to me and my wife as we raise our kids.
Health benefits
There are many health benefits associated with bathing hot water. To many people, it is a form of therapy or treatment which addresses so many health conditions. Just using hot water to clean wounds provides a healing effect too. I remember back then, when my grandmother uses it on me.
Now let us talk about some mental and physical health benefits of bathing hot water.
It helps to release pains on the muscles and joints
The use of hot water is an effective method of treating sore muscles. When hot water is applied, it makes the blood vessels to expand thereby aiding better circulation of blood. It aids in helping muscles to relax, thereby easing pain in the process.
Helps out the heart
It has been confirmed that hot bath helps the heart to relax, thus reducing heart pressure. This does not mean that a person should not go for regular heart checkups.
It assists in Fighting depression
Sometimes, we hear people say that they are in need of a hot bath. Why, because it helps them to relieve stress and depression. It strongly contributes to the reduction of anger, tension and other worries within.
Helps individuals sleep well at night
When you take a hot bath before going to bed, it improves the person's sleep quality. It can also help the person fall asleep faster especially when the hot bath is taken 1 to 2 hours before sleeping time.
Also, hot baths opens up the pores on the skin allowing for greater perspiration as well as excretion of toxins from the human body.
Conclusion
Granted, some physicians will advise otherwise due to some health implications for an individual. Most times, the individual will be asked to bath with warm water. It is only on rare occasions patients are asked to bath only cold water.
We can now see why I always prefer hot bath to cold ones. That is the same reason why many pay handsomely to have a taste of Japanese natural hot springs and other Jacuzzis.
